We started our early retirement at the beginning of February 1999. Our fond farewell's were said to friends and relations in both Scotland and England before departing for Eugene - Oregon, on the 14th of April 1999.

Within 48 hours of our arrival we had purchased our new home - a 34 foot Sunnybrook Fifth Wheel. Our new Ford F-350 pick up truck had been ordered prior to our departure - and delivery to Eugene was promised for the beginning of May.

In less than four very hectic weeks of learning, organizing and spending, we were ready to start our 2 - 3 years "Holiday of a Lifetime" West of the Rockies, U.S.A. (Providing the INS - will kindly keep renewing our visa every six months).

Two years and 50,000 miles later, parts of Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, Texas and the magnificent Canadian Rockies have passed beneath the truck wheels.

Hiking has been the main focus during our travels, with National Parks, National Monuments, National Recreation Areas and US Forests providing many highlights. We have met many wonderful, kind and interesting people, many of whom we will never meet again, but they will always be remembered with fondness.

We returned home for six very enjoyable months in the summer of 2002, toured our beautiful country, but decided we are not ready to settle down to that rocking chair by the fireside just yet.
We're going to give it another 18 months then decided where our next venture will be. Until then - please join us on our travels..................................

We have deliberately not published our E-Mail address as we are retired (the most rewarding & satisfying position either of us have ever held!) and no longer have enough hours in the day to do everything we would like.
