On Elephant Riding

On a hot day, riding an elephant over hill and dale sure beats walking--even when your elephant has a nasty case of gas, as was the case with ours. We rented elephants in a Karen village (at the local Hertz Rent-A-Elephant) on the Kok River, and headed into the jungle with style.

The basic economy model.

Beni and Miriam get an early lead.

In a risky maneuver we turned the elephant-cam backwards to catch the lagging Brits (Max, Lisa and Tamsin). Not recommended for keeping your balance.

See the amazing flatulent pachyderm.
