Journey Down Mae Kok

Our trek in northern Thailand began with a long ride to Chiang Rai in the back of a truck, but the adventure really started when we got on Mae Kok (which Bonnie has strongly suggested I call the Kok River from hereon in). We and our five fellow trekkers squeezed into a long boat, and were soon covered with spray as we watched life along Mae... I mean the Kok River. The river was filled with waders. Some were making their living fishing with bamboo baskets, but most were just cooling off. Many saw fit to splash us as we went by (hence the lack of pictures)... no doubt practicing for the upcoming Thai New Year's celebration, which is apparently just an excuse for a country-wide water fight.

The starting point.
