You will notice most of these Tony Smith Sculptures are outside surrounded by grass and trees. The few that are not have a lot of open space around them. They seem to reflect the light, both inside and out. They almost seem peaceful, calming, serene. Do you get that same feeling by the South Orange Train Station? Everyone seems to be rushing around in that area of town. It's crowded and noisy.
Once SOPAC opens, it's only going to get worse!
After you've seen the above photos of other Tony Smith Sculptures we think you would agree
they really do look best in a park-like setting. Because Sloan Street in not a park-like setting, it makes Tau look even more incongruous, (for those who might not know it means 'out of place,') and out of scale it is.
