The picture above, surprisingly enough, was not taken in the seventies. Yes that surprised me aswell. Most of the cars from there probably end up like the one on the right. Burnt out cars are a common sight in Shotts. The neds like to do this since it stimulates them at the time and also gains them rewards from their social workers such as trips to spain and more wine.

Take a look at this splendour. As you can see Shotts has a fabulous range of...um.. trees, grass and houses (please note the sarcasm). If this picture was taken at night it may have been possible to see some local capped types standing amongst the trees drinking cheap "wine" and cider but unfortuanately these people are exclusively nocturnal and would probably have "chibbed" the photographer if they had seen him so there wouldnt have been a photograph anyway. Its all very philisophical.
People just dont go out during the day for some reason. Note the abandoned childs bycicle go-cart thing. That was almost certainly "taxed" by the neds soon after this photograph was taken
Where are all the people?! There is always at least two neds on those benches! War memorials like this are a common site in most backwater Scottish towns. This one has names and stuff on it and the picture below shows a big tower and some red pipes. Something to do with making Iron I think....classy.
