City Positions Prince: The ruler of a city or it's equivalent in the Camarilla; the supreme authority in local Camarilla affairs. The title applies to both male and female Kindred. Generally speaking, nothing happens in the city without the Prince's approval. The Prince leads his city and protects it. She is responsible for maintaining the Traditions and upholding law and order among Kindred Society. The city is the Domain of the Prince and all who wish to reside within or visit must answer to the Prince. Seneschal: A prince's right-hand vampire. The Seneschal acts as the Prince when the Prince is absent as well as serving as an advisor. The Seneschal has the same powers, authority and responsibility as the Prince, subject to definition by the Prince. Often the Seneschal is the heir to the city assuming the Prince is killed. The Seneschal handles many of the night-to-night operations of a city. Seneschal duties largely depend on how much power the Prince gives them. Some are glorified secretaries, while others are powers in their own right and make important decisions in the Princes stead. Truthfully, some Prince's choose to operate without the aid of a Seneschal, Primogen: A member of the council of elders who putatively advise the Prince of a city. The primogen council's actual power varies from city to city. Sometimes they are the true powers behind the throne, sometimes they are simply delivery systems to carry out the Prince's will. Primogen are also responsible for handling clan disputes and settling issues within their own clans. They are as well called upon to carry out the introductions of new arrivals. Whips: Whips act as intermediaries between the Primogen and her Clan and act as the Primogen in her absence. Sheriff: This position acts as the law of a particular city. Charged with a mandate to enforce a Prince's idea of the Traditions; many have the Rite of Destruction at their calling. Most often they are used to police the city against troublemakers, Tradition breakers, and rebels of all kinds. The Sheriff acts as enforcer of the Traditions and any edicts decreed by the Prince and Primogen of a city. The Sheriff may demand that any Kindred within the city accompany him for questioning or judgement. The Sheriff is the only Kindred immune to the powers of the Keeper of the Elysium. The Sheriff also organizes security and enforcement within the city. Scourge: Title given to a Kindred charged by the prince with cleansing the city of unwanted, unauthorized rabble. Typically they're seen as silent assassins who remove annpying problems the city doesn't like to talk about. Many are pariah's among the Camarilla and aren't generally welcome among social venues. Scourges are often found patrolling the barrens, (The outer edges of a city.) though are known to frequent the heart of a city if searching for a specific target. Keeper of Elysium: The vampire charged with upholding the sanctity and quality of a city's Elysium. They normally coordinate the security with the local Sheriff and her Deputies. Occassionally a Keeper will provide her own security if they feel capable to do so. In addition to maintaining the Elysiums, Keeper's will arrange entertainment such as social events, open speech forums, galleries, or parties for the cities Camarilla. The Keeper also works to maintain the Traditions and to punish transgressors. Harpy: A de facto title given to the Kindred who sit in judgment on the rest of a city's social status. The harpies mandate the social pecking order through innuendo, rumors, favoritism and other such tools. There is no current Harpy title established, though the term can apply to any socialite in the Elysium who goes out of their way to remind others of status and proper etiquette. |
Positions As mentioned before, the Camarilla is made up of a hierarchal system directed around status. Within this hierarchy is an elaborate organization os positions a Vampire may hold to contribute to her cities sect. It's like a governing body that sits over the city and decides what happens on a nightly basis. Most of the time it is refered to as the Council of a city. Try to remember that just because your character is under the law of the Camarilla, that does not mean they have to have a title to have status. While it does help, often enough it's what goes on in a nights time that sets your characters status in the game. Another thing to remember is that your character does not have to hold a position in the game to be beneficial to the Chronicle. Below are the positions in the Camarilla to which Vampires may strive to acheive, learn to hate, or perhaps look to for guidance. While there may be a position listed, some Princes choose not to allow the title to sit within their domain. A good example would be Scourge; many modern prince's feel that it is an outdated need in the modern age. Other, however, feel that it is a nessicary role to be filled in overpopulated city. |
Camarilla Positions The Inner Circle: A council of seven vampires (one from each clan),rules the entire Camarilla. They make decisions from their seat in Europe. These are the only people that the Justicars need answer to. They are the ones that make the grand policy decisions, and rule from their old castles in seclusion. Justicars: One for each clan. These ancient and powerful kindred are not bound by the Traditions (except The Masquerade) and charged with one thing: defending the Camarilla from all threats, internal and external. The Justicars cannot do it alone, so they have a number of Kindred helping them, called Archorns. Archon: While not as powerful as their Justicars, still hold more status than most vampires, and can freely travel, as well as being partially free from Kindred law (not as much as the Justicars.) Archons act as enforcers (Kinda like the vampire police) as well as point men, scouting out an area to see if further help is needed. |
