Experience Gaining
Experience points represent the learning and growth of a character. In this game experience will only be given to people who attend, SIGN IN, role-play, and fill out BLUE CARDS. Experience can only be spent if emailed to the games storyteller 24 hours before the next game or given in person in writing (preferably typed) 24 hours before the next game. Experience is a privilege, not a right. You may be denied experience for bad role playing, cheese, not spending enough time actually in character, or as punishment for breaking the RULES. I know that I have good players, but we all make mistakes. It is better to simply be punished and learn that to have to be removed from the game. Experience works like this: Signing In (legibly and correctly) = 1 point Blue Card (legibly and correctly with the nights events and major happens for your character) = 1 point Actually ROLEPLAYING = 1 point (This may seem silly but sometimes people just don not game. They come, they watch, but they do nothing! I expect good role-playing just like you expect good storytelling.) Bonus Experience Points Bonus experience points can be earned in several ways. They are also a privilege, not a right. They represent a reward for EXCEPTIONAL effort on the Players part. Things that might warrant extra experience are: Background = A thorough and well thought out background that is neatly typed and given to an ST either in email, or in person may merit as many as three additional experience points per character. Note: To actually receive the entire three I expect you to know DETAILS!! Time of birth, birth date that is congruent with auspice, time and date of chrysalis/firsting, mothers maiden name, and mother s age at your birth, where they went to grade, junior and high school, if lupus tell me all you can of their short life and how they were brought into werewolf society, or if metis the caren they were raised in and place and treatment there. Tell me everything you can think of right on down to their dogs name, and so on and so forth. If you are of a more creative bent, you may write a short story about a significant or defining moment in your characters life. The Story Tellers can be very flexible on this as long as the end result shows effort and dedication to the character concept. (Sorry but really sometimes we need to emphasize that you need to play the character you are given.) Lesser, messy, or poorly thought out backgrounds will get less experience and plain bad ones will get no experience. Once a background is approved by an ST, (signed on the bottom and returned to the player) it becomes law. The people and places written about in it now exist in a game. There will be no revisions or rewriting. In other words, you cannot go back in time and attend Harvard. BE WARNED!!! Many a Player has damned themselves to over helpful mothers, nosy little sisters, and enemies from the past that the storyteller never would have thought of. Think carefully about your background, you have to live with it for the rest of your characters short life. Costuming = Although it may seem silly at times I encourage costuming. It helps set the mood and make a character really stand out. It is never mandatory, after all every Player should come equipped with a good imagination. However, those who choose to use costuming may merit additional experience, but folks lets not get cheesy. A hat is not a costume, neither is a coat or a shirt. In order to receive experience for a costume I expect a complete costume. (Keep in mind NO WEAPONS or dangerous items should ever be brought to a game for ANY REASON, not even toys, or replicas.) Costuming should be consistent (come dressed like that for every game your character is in, and do not be gothic one game and jock the next), and be noticeably different from your every day dress. The only exception to consistent costuming is special occasions. In character balls, costume parties, and great moots. Exceptional role-playing = Some of us have a knack for taking on the persona of another person, others really have to work at it, but no matter who w are occasionally one of us is going to do something really IMPRESSIVE. They are going to say or do something that will stick in our minds for months, maybe even years. It is precisely this type or role-playing that makes everyone want to be a better Player. I encourage this type of role-playing I will not put a number on how much you can earn but let me simply say: Impress me, and you will know. Game Report= Sending the ST a well thought out summary of what happened in the game in and out of character with personal commentary suggestions or just bitching that is longer than a page can get you an experience point per report. (One report per game.) |
