Mythic Age - The world of dreams, Arcadia, existed alongside the mortal realm, without separation. The fae passed between the borders without hindrance. The fae were immortal and in their own forms, not in mortal shells. Fae tended to treat mortals as playthings.

The Sundering - Humans began to dream, and were able to disbelieve dreams and disbelieve that changelings existed. Explanations replaced mythos. Fae society began to mirror human society, setting up a feudal system. The Inquisition of 1233 tried to rid the world of all supernatural elements, and the fae retreated into Arcadia, closing the borders altogether or only opening them at certain times of the year. Many fae fled to North America where the Sundering was not taking place, causing less and less fae magic to remain in Europe and Asia.

The Shattering - The ties between Arcadia and the mortal world were finally severed. The nobles fled to Arcadia and many of the commoner fae were trapped in the mortal world, and cloaked themselves to look like humans to survive. Eventually they found a way to implant their spirits into infants, but the knowledge of the nature of their true selves would not emerge until their Chrysalis. It was not one single event, but many that occurred in rapid succession. 2 examples:
The Black Plague (1347-1351) - 75 million mortals dead
Rise of reason and science (14th century)

The Interregnum - Changelings banded together in small groups, with the noble social structures gone. The Age of Exploration and the Age of Reason brought more and more banality to the world, and eventually led to the Age of Technology. The Seelie and Unseelie courts made a compact to work together 'for the duration'.

The Resurgence - On July 21, 1969, Man walked on the moon, and the burst of glamour and dreams that followed birthed magic again into the world once more. The trods between Arcadia and the mortal world were opened for a short time, but the Mists - the veil between the worlds - remained. 5 of the 13 original houses that fled the mortal world returned due to their being cast from Arcadia due to upheavals - but none that returned to the mortal world can remember why. Shortly thereafter the trods closed again.  With the return of the nobles, the commoner leaders protested against their instant reclamation of their territories.   Also at this time was the Night of the Iron Knives - Commoner leaders were summoned to a meeting in America to negotiate between themselves and the nobles; they met their death by iron.

Accordance War - The commoners' response to the massacre. Ended with the rise of High King David. The Treaty of Concord was written, giving the Sidhe the right to rule, but recognizing commoners' rights.

Today - The courts of the Fae have been thrown into chaos following the disappearance of their promised High King, David. Winter approaches and the masses shore up for the coming sunset.
