Mages Experience Costs

Xp costs for mages.

• New Attribute Trait-
1xp per Trait

• New Ability Trait- 1xp per Trait

• New Background
- 1xp per Trait with ST approval.
(This includes Influences.)

• New Sphere
- 4xp for Initiate, or Apprentice, 8xp for
Disciple or Adept, and 12 xp for Master level. The
costs increase to 5/10/15 for Spheres other than your
specialty Sphere.

• New Arete
-  Four xp per trait, with a Seeking, you
must succeed in the seeking to gain the Trait otherwise
your xp will return to you  and you may try again later.
(In other words you earmark the experience for a chance
to increase your Arete and then you get it back if you fail..)

• New Rote- 1xp for each Sphere level used in the Rote.

• New Specialization- 1xp per Trait in an Ability you already have.

• New Willpower- 3xp per Trait

• Buy off  Neg Trait/Flaw
- 2xp per trait

Trait Maximums For Mages


We are using the Beyond Human Limits Rule on Page 123 of the Mage the Ascension MET Book.

Mages increases their Trait Maximums with ever level of Arete. Therefore a mage with a three in Arete has a 13 Trait Maximum in his Attribute categories (Physical, Social, and Mental) 

Mages may have up to

? 20 Traits Attribute categories (Physical, Social, and Mental) Starting at 10 and then add your Arete level to get your Trait Maximum 

? 5 Traits in Ability categories

? 10 Traits of Willpower

? 10 Traits of Arete

? Traits Of Quintessence up to your Avatar level, or to 20 if you have the Initiate level of Prime.  (Remember Quintessence is always temporary. Each session you start with your Avatar rating in Quintessence and then may add if you have access to a Node.)
