Thursday in Paris.....
ive seen the mona lisa
(behind several inches of bullet proof glass)
the tower eiffel, by the way, its pretty freakin' tall, that and the elevator right up to the very top is a touch eerie.  It was so windy up there, it makes me wonder how mr. eiffel's clients ever managed to walk up to its peak in the winter.

originally commissioned to be built by Napolean, it commorates several battles, generals etc, its got the tomb of the unknown french solider inside.  the coolest bit about this was the realization of how many people through history have been through the arc, and now so have i.
basically, holy crap! i'm at the Louvre, you know that place you read about, and you see pictures of whats inside...it still baffles me that i've seen stuff inside the Louvre.
back to that whole initial point of 'had you told me a year ago, i'd be going to the Paris and the Louvre,' i would have told you, you were crazy and to stop spreading such craziness.

home to two of the funniest hotel staff i've ever met.
outside notre dame i just like how the soft delicate flower contrasts with the harsh cold stone gargoyles.
when in paris, you should visit all the things that you can see back home. ;)

that light in the background is from the spotlights on the eiffel tower.
ok, and now some funny bits....
we've all seen pulp fiction, how can i go to france, walk by a mcdonalds and not take a picture of their menu.

ok, you're taking your family to paris, you've got three young children whom you'd like to appreciate this opportunity, and enjoy themselves while their on holiday.

this family never got the memo.

that psycho woman in white, who responded to 'mom,' apparently decided that this would be the vacation where the pictures would be absolutely perfect.

clearly american through speech, they literally spent a half an hour taking pictures in front of the eiffel tower.  Some with just the children, some with the mum and her kids, and then dad and kids.  Nothing was perfect for this woman, she was an absolute nightmare to her offspring.  The were blatently showing signs of 'i'd like to act like a kid and run around chasing pigeons than stand here all day and waste my time in france'

We stayed in this courtyard for prolly the good part of an hour, devouring crepes and panninis to satisfy a day's walking worth of hunger, and in that time, they were constantly taking pictures, and had moved from one spot to twenty feet ahead, to take some more as we left to, you know, go see the eiffel tower and not just have a thousand pictures of it.

they were still photographing when we left, and to our surprise, were gone when we came back two hours later.
my personal favorite...
and...THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO HAND HOLDING WHILE IN PARIS!!!!!  ESPECIALLY HOLDING THE HANDS OF THOSE CALLED CHILDREN!!!!

apparently preventing bodily harm from the maniac drivers in paris, or keeping your child safe from kidnappers is strictly forbidden...

a broken Louvre  escalator which is definately not temporarily stairs.

if you can't tell, every step is missing, and there's a gentleman about to crawl underneath/inside it.

and yes darek, i took this picture and posted it here just for you, cause each time i see a broken escalator it makes me think of the 2 skinnee j's show in NYC

i swear the french just need any excuse whatsoever to make a statue of anything.  Its almost as if they have so much time on their hands and a done of marble and plaster.
another famous sculpture in the louvre of cupid and psyche.

this mueseum was by far well worth the trip to france, it was incredible the stuff that they have in there, and we didn't even make it through everything.
