You have played with a whole array of great bands during the last 6 months (Fugazi, the Blood Brothers, Burning Brides etc.). Which band did you most enjoy playing with and why?
Fugazi was a huge gig for us to play and we had a lot of fun. We hadn't toured or played many decent small venues and suddenly were were playing at The Forum, and a lot of people suddenly took us a lot more seriously because of that. The Blood Brothers tour was good because it was our first tour and they treated us really well. Playing with Stone Sour (Corey from Silpknot's band) and Saliva at the Astoria was great because for a start it seemed stupid that we would be playing with those bands and the way the show was run was so different to Fugazi. Saliva, who were also supporting Stone Sour were wasting so much money on that show. They had roadies doing their soundcheck. They must have wasted more money that night than Fugazi did on their whole tour- real arena rock ego boys. Stone Sour didn't seem as bad, Corey was nice enough to us and he thanked us on stage.

What has been your worst experience playing live?
Probably the worst thing to happen is when you can't hear what the hell's going on onstage and you start playing out of time with eachother. This never happens but it happened at the Astoria. When we supported Fugazi at the Forum my snare drum broke and I didn't have a spare so I had to carry on with the broken one. This was the first time this had happened to me and I'd been having dreams that it would happen before we played the show, but when something like that happens you just have to laugh and carry on like everything's ok because if you panic you look like an idiot.

I have a friend who saw you guys playing with Kinesis in Norwich and he said that there was some hostility from the crowd. What has been the general reaction from the audiences you have performed to in the UK? Where have you been most well received?

We usually get a pretty good response. The Blood Brothers and Burning Brides tours were good for us and the reaction from Kinesis fans in London was surprisingly good. I was surprised how well were recieved on the Kinesis tour considering what Kinesis sound like compared to us. I didn't really notice hostillity in the crowd in Norwich but I'm sure there was some. We have a long instrumental song that's designed to frustrate people who don't like us to the point of heckling us. If it happens I know we've done a good job. I got a cup thrown at me when we supported Stone Sour and that made me so happy. If someone doesn't like us we're in a good position to punish them because we're the ones with all the volume. We can't lose.

Rocksound recently described you as the “best live band in Britain’. With this in mind, do you find it difficult reproducing your live energy in the studio and do you think that what we hear on record is a full and accurate representation of what your band is about?
On record you've got to get the energy across without the volume so it can be hard, but I think we got it across fine. It doesn't sound exactly like live but records never do.

Before you guys went full time with Winnebago Deal did either of the band have full time jobs? If so, have you ever been tempted to go back to them?
Ben the singer/guitar player worked in a shop for a long time to fund playing in a band. I've had a few crappy jobs. We don't get time to work at the moment so we don't have any money.

What can we expect to hear from Winnebago Deal in the future? Will you continue making the type of songs that we hear of ‘Plata o Plomo’ or have you any intentions of trying to ‘experiment’ with your sound?

Most of the songs on Plata O Plomo were written a long time ago, but that's the way our band sounds and we won't be changing drastically. The next album is already 80 per cent written and I think the songs are stronger. There some heavier songs and crazier songs, but they're all gonna be songs that stick in your head. We're trying to make every song worthy of being a single, so there's no filler on the album.

Finally, if you could choose one word to sum up Winnebago Deal then what would it be?

Loud.
