This might come as a shock... | ||||
You might look around yourself and notice that there seems to be more and more...non-traditional people around. People who dress differently, talk differently, act differently, and have a lot of unconventional opinions. Or, really, any combination of the above. In fact, you might feel threatened by these abnormal people. So I thought I might clear up a few misconceptions you might have about people who are different than you. 1. Atheism does not make you amoral Just because one doesn't believe in God doesn't mean that they don't believe in, well, rules. Is an atheist more likely to do drugs, have pre-marital sex, and eat children? No. Atheists don't abide by a moral code because God said to, they are moral because it's common sense. In fact, atheists tend to be more open-minded and thus, more humane, than Christians. 2. Homosexuality is none of your business Unless, of course, you are homosexual. Do you fuck peope of the same gender? No? Then why do you care if someone else does? Does it offend you? Why? It doesn't offend them that you fuck people of the opposite gender. Get over it. If the only argument you have is that God says it's wrong, then you have to accept this next fact: 3. Not everyone in the world is Christian In fact, Christianity is a bit of a minority. Free will is a funny thing. I have the free will to think that the bible is a piece of crappy literature. Some people agree. Some don't. Don't try to convert people, what they believe is probably what works for them, and they don't want to be saved by you. 4. American culture and capitalism won't work for everyone Frankly, I think the less of the world observing American culture, the better. Should Ethiopians have cell phones? Certainly, if they want them. Does it mark them as unhappy if they don't? NO. Not everyone wants McDonalds and Wal-Mart shoved down their throats, and that we're trying to do that to Iraq is sickening. As for capitalism, it's a crappy idea. Socialism, like most of Europe, at least takes care of its people. American capitalism rapes them up the ass. 5. In fact, America isn't the greatest country in the world Of course, Americans suck so terribly at geography that they probably can't tell you anything about any other country. |
