"...it is not your forte to talk of yourself..."
I first read Jane Eyre when I was in my sophomore year of high school, and I am sad to say that throughout the first hundred pages, I was very close to putting it down and giving up on it.  I didn't find it that interesting- until Mr. Rochester came.  From then on, I devoured the novel, and then started it over again.  And again, and again.  (Now I appreciate the first part of the book, by the way).  My total sympathy with this character, led me to exhaustive efforts to watch all the film versions I could get my hands on.  It was great to "see" the book, especially if they did it differently from the way my mind saw it.  And then I could complain and jeer at the screen.  :)  But then I found out about another miniseries (and a miniseries was my only hope of finding a really good production) on imdb.com.  And after reading the comments on the message board I HAD TO SEE this version.  Fortunately, someone on the message boards was selling a version.  And the rest is, as they say, history.
