Equinox: An episode Addition
© Kathryn Murphy
I'd crossed the line. I had come very close to losing it all, my seniority, the respect of my crew. Trust. When it was over, I tried to make amends, to make things right again. I'm just not sure if it worked.
The one person to whom I needed to apologize the most was Chakotay. I got caught up in the moment with Ransom and the Equinox, and let a personal vendetta get in the way of my duty.
"You're one to hold a grudge" he told me when he attempted to reason with me, but I refused to listen. I'm afraid I risked more then Voyager on this mission..

Standing on the bridge, I watched as the pieces of my ship were put back together. I'd spoken with Chakotay, attempted my apology with humour, but still my heart was heavy because I knew I could never undo the damage I had caused between us.
"Will you look at that" I said, noticing a pile of ruble in the corner. Chakotay and I moved to the wall and I bent to pick it up. "all these years, all these battles, this thing has never fallen down before" I said quietly, brushing the dirt off Voyager's dedication plaque.
Chakotay took it in his hands and ran his fingers along the grooved letters. A moment passed before he spoke. "Let's put it back up where it belongs" he whispered. I looked at him, my eyes stuck to his. The sincerity with which he spoke sent chills up my spine and I couldn't help but wonder if he was talking about more then the plaque.
It was at that moment that I realized that maybe, someday, everything would be alright again.
