Even though our show is gone it will never die in our hearts. This page will be a tribute to our show and will feature links to my other Sunset Beach pages as well as other links.
MEMORABLE STORYLINES
"THE HELL WITH DEL!"
Del Douglas, Annie's father, had, among other things, had Annie's car repossessed and in effect left her with nothing. Shortly afterward, someone shot Del and killed him. All the evidence pointed towards Annie and she was arrested for murder. Several attempts were made to break her out of jail, including a faked suicide, but she finally escaped. Hiding in Big Al's coffin, she was nearly cremated alive. She got out just in time but faked her death, hiding out at Ben's, until the heat was off. Of course as it turned out Elaine was the murderer, but she got off after explaining the circumstances. Several times after Del was dead Annie visited him in Hell!
THE VANESSA/MICHAEL/VIRGINIA TRIANGLE (by request)
Michael was making mysterious visits to someone on the "bad" side of town. Vanessa wondered about this and followed him one day and learned that he was involved with Virginia, who had a son named Jimmy. When she asked about this Michael explained that he had accidentally killed Jimmy's father and had been taking care of Jimmy since his father's death. However, Virginia didn't like the fact that Michael was involved with Vanessa since she wanted him for herself. She tried several different schemes to try to break them up and/or eliminate Vanessa altogether. First she went to Mrs. Moreau and had her make a potion which would give Vanessa the same disease her mother had, Martin's Syndrome. She put the potion in Vanessa's cold cream and sure enough the blisters appeared on Vanessa's arms. Michael then contacted Dr. Tyus Robinson and the doctor created a medication that would cure the disease and gave it to Vanessa which cured her of the disease. Virginia then had another Idea: she took some of Tyus' sperm from the sperm bank and using a turkey baster she artificially impregnated Vanessa while she slept. A test did indeed verify that Tyus was the father of Vanessa's baby. However, Vanessa later had a miscarriage which once more foiled Virginia's plan. Once it was discovered that Virginia was using these tricks to try to break them up she was commited to an institution.
TERROR ISLAND
Ben had bought an island for Meg as a wedding present. Several of the Sunset Beach residents had visited it. Unfortunately it turned out to be more of a nightmare than a vacation because Ben's evil twin brother, Derek, showed up and started killing off the residents. First was Elizabeth, then Jade, then Grogan, and finally Mark whose dying words were: "It was Ben!" Later it was discovered that it was Derek, not Ben, that did the murders. In a scuffle with Ben, Derek went over the edge of a cliff. Was it really the end of Derek?
SHOCKWAVE
An earthquake hit Sunset Beach and caused major damage to several places, including the Richards' house and resulted in the death of Lourdes, the Richards' housekeeper. The earthquake caused a tsunami (tidal wave) which capsized a cruise ship which some residents of Sunset Beach had been on.
THE GABI/RICARDO/ANTONIO TRIANGLE (by request)
When the earthquake hit during the Shockwave storyline, Gabi was trapped in a collapsed office with Antonio. They believed they would not be rescued and would die together, so they made love. Unbeknownst to them, Francesca had set up a video camera in the office and it was running so their little tryst was captured on videotape. They were rescued and swore to carry their secret to the grave. However, Carmen got hold of the tape and threatened to show it to Ricardo unless Gabi left Sunset Beach for good. Gabi did leave but Antonio found her and brought her back. Carmen then decided to forgive Gabi and threw the tape in the trash can. Ricardo came along and found it, watched it, and when he went to confront Gabi and Antonio about it he suffered a stroke. He kept quiet about the tape until he was better and he and Gabi had been married (against his wishes) then he showed it to her. Gabi kept begging Ricardo to forgive her but her pleas continued to fall on deaf ears. Finally, on the last episode of the show (see "The Last And Final Show" below) they buried the hatchet.
WHO KILLED FRANCESCA?
Francesca had been in her motel room when someone came through the door and shot her! Olivia had been seen right after it happened so people thought she was the one who did it. Francesca managed to make her way into a room a party was being held in, and was put into a cake. She popped out, pointed to someone in the crowd, and said one last word: "YOU!" then died. It turned out that Gregory was her killer.
BEN AND MEG'S "WEDDING"
Ben and Meg were at the mission, and were about to get married. Everything was in order, the vows were said, and Father Antonio Torres had even pronounced them man and wife. Then Meg threw the bouquet, and who should catch it but Maria Torres Evans! Until that very moment everyone thought Maria was dead, and Meg thought this girl's name was Dana!
MARIA RETURNS
After making her sudden, unexplained reappearance at Ben and Meg's "wedding," it was discovered that since Maria hadn't died she was still legally married to Ben. This of course made the wedding between Ben and Meg null and void. Ben tried for the longest time to get Maria to give him a divorce so he could go ahead and marry Meg, who he really loved. Maria finally agreed to do this and they made all the arrangements.
TESS AND BENJY SHOW UP
Ben and Maria had agreed to go ahead and get the divorce so Ben could marry Meg. Just as they were leaving they were met at the door by two strangers, a lady and a small boy. The lady's name was Tess and the boy was Benjy, who immediately said "Daddy!" to Ben and hugged him. Tess told Ben that Benjy was his and Maria's son. Since Maria had lost her memory for five years she did not remember this, and since Ben had been out of touch with Maria for all that time he had no knowledge either. As time went on it became obvious that this was simply a plot that had been set up by someone to split Ben and Meg up so he could stay with Maria. Tess even arranged for Benjy to be kidnapped and for Meg to take the blame for it! Later it was revealed who was behind all of this: Derek! (Wait a minute - we thought he had died before when he went off the cliff!)
DEREK IS KILLED (AGAIN)
Once Derek was discovered, he was back up to his evil ways, including killing Tim and burying him inside the base of a monument! However, the monument broke open to reveal Tim's body! Later Meg figured out that it was Derek, not Ben, who had been coming around. Where was Ben? Derek had tied him up in a warehouse again. Luckily he escaped and came to the rescue once more. Derek had a gun and was about to finish both Ben and Meg off when Ben intervened and grabbed the gun. It went off and when the smoke cleared it was discovered that Derek had been shot, and this time he really did die! (Too bad for all you Derek fans out there...but it was good for Ben and Meg!)
THE LAST AND FINAL SHOW
Friday, December 31, 1999
Caitlin and Trey come in the door and Olivia is happy. They talk on the couch. Caitlin says she's going back to Europe, whenever Cole takes care of some unfinished business. But she's leaving Trey behind with his mother. Sean and Emily walk in and Sean and Livvy hug. Then Olivia goes over to the tree to give Trey his presents. Sean tells Caitlin she's the best sister and she says she is the luckiest sister ever to have such a great brother and a best friend. They hug. Sean turns to Emily and they talk about miracles and they kiss. Jude comes in after Sean, Emily, and Caitlin have left the room. Olivia thanks Jude, thinking Jude was the one who got her children home, but he tells her he didn't do it alone. He tells her Annie was the one who put the plan in motion.
Cole walks in the door and Caitlin is surprised and they hugged, and Cole looks her up and down, telling her she looks beautiful. And he says that they are going to be together forever and they kiss.
Jude goes into the church and Olivia and Annie talk. Olivia says she knows that Annie was the one who got her children home and that she had to admit what she did to Olivia in order to do it. Annie thinks that Caitlin and Sean must hate her as much as Olivia does, but Olivia says she doesn't hate her...at the moment. They decided to go into the chapel together, and Bette sees this and is in shock. AJ comments on it being a mirage, but then says it just goes to show that miracles can happen.
Amy wanted to know about Sean. Bette told her he was with Emily and basically didn't say any more than that, except some wise advice for Amy about love. Then Bette and AJ walked inside the church. Brad thought that Amy was going to go after Emily and Sean again, but she said "Not a chance." Now she realizes that Sean can't give her what she wants (but apparently Brad can, because she held his hand).
Maria tells Annie that there will be two weddings, and Annie thinks that it's Michael and Vanessa, and Ben and Maria, but Maria tells her that the divorce papers have been finalized and that Ben is marrying Meg. Annie protests and wants to do something about it, but Maria stops her and tells her that she gave Meg her blessing. Annie comes and tells Meg that the best woman won, and that Meg is a fighter who reminds her of herself. Meg thinks that there's more to it and is waiting for the attack... Meg thinks that Maria must have sent Annie there to say those things, but Annie says that if Maria can offer her blessing then so can she. And Annie also commented on how lovely Meg looks and Meg asks if it's not too Kansas. Annie says it's not.
Antonio says he'll miss Gabi and walks inside the church. Gabi gives her wedding ring back to Ricardo and says that she's leaving town. Carmen wants to talk to Gabi and basically tells her that she is a girl with a beautiful soul and will find happiness and love in her future.
Ben asks Michael if Vanessa will be okay with a double wedding. During the wedding, Michael and Vanessa say their wedding vows and Vanessa is crying her eyes out. Antonio says that he has to wed another couple and turns to Ben and Meg. They say their wedding vows and both couples are pronounced "Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bourne" and "Mr. and Mrs. Ben Evans." As the wedding scene is going on, people are looking at each other with love--AJ and Bette, Hank and Joan, Maria and her new guy Ross. Everyone surrounds the two couples, and Meg hears Joan calling her name and she calls back, asking her where she is...
Joan is trying to wake Meg up. She does and Joan remarks about how it must've been some dream she was having. Aunt Bette comes upstairs. Meg's about to get married to Tim Truman, and Aunt Bette and Joan think that she must have forgotten that. Before she goes downstairs, Bette asks if she was in Meg's dream and if she had a happy ending, and Meg says yes to both questions. Then Meg stays in her room for a while, trying to contemplate that it was all a dream. When she comes downstairs, everyone who was in her dream is in her living room and she tells them about the magical place called Sunset Beach. Tim was hitting on practically every woman in the room. When he tried to hit on Tess, Benjy (who really turned out to be Spike, the dog) growled at him and Tess said "Benjy doesn't like you very much." The doorbell rings and Meg answers it and finds Ben on the other side. Ben has run out of gas down the road and needs to use her phone. He tries to introduce himself, but Meg already knows his name, and they just look at each other. Ben wakes her up and she tells him about her dream. They comment on knowing that they'd be together forever, even in the dream. And Ben says that this is no dream and he kisses her.
