Buffy Bloopers

-"Welcome To The Hellmouth" . . When Buffy is looking for Willow in the Bronze, she snaps off a stool leg to use as a weapon. In the next shot, it has magically become a regular stake.

-"The Harvest ". . Cordelia states that she is going to the Bronze on the night of the Harvest - a Friday. Strangely, everyone is back at school the next day.

- "Phases" . . Willow is running away from Oz and trips in the woods, muddying her overalls. Yet when she enters the library, those overalls miraculously got clean again.

- "When She Was Bad" . . the many outfits of Buffy Summers. When driving to school she has on one outfit, in the hall 30 seconds later, she's got on another one. Later that day she's back in the first outfit. Then we have a whole new one!

- "The Harvest" . . Cordelia clearly states that Friday night is no-cover night at the Bronze. So why is everyone paying money?

- "The Harvest" . . Angel is waiting for Buffy in the mausoleum . . . in the daytime? I didn't know they made SPF 5000. Or else he's got nothing better to do than spend all his time waiting for her in a mausoleum.

- "Angel" . . When Angel and Buffy are running from the Three, and take refuge in Buffy's house, one of the Three gets his arm through the door before Buffy forces him back out. But he was uninvited, so how did he get his arm in? In other episodes uninvited vamps have hit an invisible barrier across the door of homes.

- "I Robot, You Jane" . . what's her age again? Buffy's birthday keeps changing. According to the school computer, her birthday is October 24, 1980. In the very next shot, her birthday is May 6, 1975, and on her gravestones in Nightmares and The Gift, her birthday is in 1981. Then why does Joss always do the Buffy birthday episode in January?

- "Never Kill a Boy on a First Date" . . . how long does fumigation take anyway? They started fumigation in "Angel" . . it's still closed for fumigation in this episode. Those cockroaches must be really hardy by now.

-"Teacher's Pet" . .When Doctor Gregory lectures the class about ants, he is projecting the image of a beetle onto the screen behind him.

-"Never Kill A Boy on the First Date" . . In the scene where Buffy tells Giles, "If the Apocalypse comes, beep me," she grabs her pager from out of shot. Trouble is, she's standing in the middle of her hall and there's nowhere she could have picked the gadget up from.

- "Prophecy Girl" . . Angel says he can't do the CPR on Buffy because he has no breath. Then why is he panting?

- "School Hard" . . Spike comes into town flattening the sign . . but where's Drusilla?

- "School Hard" . . the power is out, yet the trophy case lights are on...

- "Halloween" . . Willow's a ghost who can walk through walls, right? So why is it when she leaves Ethan's store she uses the door? You also hear her walk away.

- "Halloween" . . The intruder Angel fights in Buffy's house is a vampire- who was not invited in...

- "What's My Line" . . Spike's ritual is supposed to happen on the night of the full moon. Then the next day Giles says it's happening on the night of the new moon and Kendra says "that's tonight". . .

- "Surprise" . . how did Angel get dressed so fast in between the time he woke up in bed gasping and running outside in the rain?

- "Innocence" . . Cordelia is doing her research in the fiction section. Interesting.

- "Phases" . . when Giles and Buffy drive by the Bronze, you can see the two guys pushing the Citroen.
- "Phases" . . not  blooper as much as an Easter egg. Next to Buffy's shoulder when she's in front of the noticeboard you can see a note thanking all the posters on the Bronze (The official Buffy posting board).

- "Passion" . . when Angel left Jenny's body in Giles' apartment ... when did he get invited in?

- "Becoming Part One" . . more age problems. Joss explained this one by saying he can't count, but in the flashback we see the year as 1753, making him at least 245. But in earlier episodes, he says he's 241 years old.

- "Becoming Part One" . . we see Angel actually saw Buffy before she was called. Then why in "Welcome to the Hellmouth" did Angel act like he never saw her before in his life?

- "Becoming Part Two" . . how does Spike choke Dru when vampires have no air supply to cut off?

- "Becoming Part Two" . . the cross Buffy's wearing in the last scene doesn't burn Angel like it did in "Angel".

- "Amends" . . . a blooper no one noticed till Joss brought it up on the board . . . why is Xander telling Willow his Christmas ritual? She's known him since he was five. She'd know that already.

- "Pangs" . . . Anya says "So this is Angel? He's large and glowery, isn't he?" -she must suffer memory loss, because she met Angel in "Doppelgangland".

- "Innocence"  . . . Xander reveals to the group he's got a plan and that Cordy will have to wear something "trashy . . ier". They agree to meet at Willow's in a half hour. But then we see Buffy's bedroom where she cries herself to sleep and then has her dream in which Jenny appears. The next morning is the scene where Buffy confronts Jenny in the classroom. THEN we get the scene with Cordy and Xander at the army base, which was supposed to have occurred the night before? Big editing mistake.

- "The Zeppo" . . . In the scene where Xander and Oz talk about what makes people cool, it opens with a shot of various cafeteria foods before pulling up to the guys. But if you watch carefully, right when the camera pulls up, you can spot Xander, Willow, and if you look harder, Buffy, sitting at a table. Then when it switches to the correct shot, Xander's got completely different clothes on. This is footage from "I Only Have Eyes For You".

- "Consequences" . . . time frame error. In "Bad Girls", Faith kills Allan Finch at night. Then the next morning, Buffy comes to visit her and the "I don't care" scene ensues. But then "Consequences" open with Buffy's nightmare, and the police questions witnesses and the slayers about what happened the night before. According to this time frame, a day seems to have been lost.

- "The Witch" . . the cheerleading banner tryout reads "1996" even though the episode aired in 1997. This is because the episode was taped in '96, but Buffy got pushed back to a March '97 premiere.

- "Teacher's Pet" . . more time frame problems. If Blayne was heading to biology when Buffy and co. were sitting outside, we can assume this was the first class of the day. Yet when Natalie approaches Xander, the clock reads 1:45.
-"Pangs" . . during the siege in Giles' apartment, you see Spike tip his chair over in his effort to get away from the flying arrows. But the next time we see Spike, he's off to the side . . and the chair is upright again. Which of course is close to impossible given that Spike's arms are tied behind the chair. Then the next time we see him, he's back on the floor asking "Did we win?". A little editing mistake that must have slipped through.
- "The Freshman" . . in "The Yoko Factor", Angel cannot enter Buffy's dorm room without invitation, so how did Sunday's vampires get in to steal her stuff in "The Freshman"? I bet Joss and co. are starting to wish they'd never thought up the invite-only idea.
- "The Harsh Light of Day", "The Yoko Factor", etc. . . What phone has Buffy's dorm got? Originally, it was one design, then it changed to the phone with answering machine, as it was a plot point, then it was another one in "Hush", and it ended the season as a blue small phone, in "The Yoko Factor"...
- "This Year's Girl" . . How does Faith even know where Giles's house is? I don't recall her ever going there.
- "The Yoko Factor" . . Watch the cover over Xander. His hands are under it, and so are not moving it, but the cover keeps moving. One minute its up to his chin, the next its near his waist, then its up by his chest again.
- "The Yoko Factor" . . Giles has obviously done some redecorating. When Anya and Tara are in the bathroom, it's noticeably different from how it was when Spike was chained up in it earlier in the season ("Something Blue", etc.). In fact, it looks a lot like the bathroom from the house in "Where the Wild Things Are". Maybe its a new fashion...
- "The Initiative" . . Spike must have had his chip implanted while he was initially unconscious, so how was he able to attack the Initiative scientists when he escaped from the cell? Another point from this episode- you can clearly see Spike's reflection in the escape scene, in the glass cell wall, as he runs past it, and in the shiny floor. (vamps have no reflection [see mythology] ). Also, where were the scientists taking him if the experiment on him had already been performed?
- "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" . . In the slow-mo sequence of Xander walking down the corridor, the same guy can clearly be seen twice, once behind Xander and then in front of him only seconds later- the extras budget must have been depleted...
- "Passion" . . Vampires need no invite into public buildings, so why does Jenny ask Angel how he got into the school? (The 'knowledge seeker' conversation)
- "I Only have Eyes for You" . . Willow refers to Jenny Calendars lesson plans 'on her computer'- Angel destroyed her computer before he killed her two episodes earlier in "Passion"
- "School Hard" . . Spike refers to Angel as his 'sire', but it is later established that Drusilla sired Spike.
- "Goodbye, Iowa" . . When the Initiative gives Buffy a pager, she says she had been meaning to get one. But she had one in "Never Kill a Boy on the First Date"
- "The Shroud of Rahmon" (Angel) - It is said that the box of the shroud is made of consecrated wood. It was established in "When She was Bad" that consecrated earth burns Vampires, so why can Angel carry the box?
-"I will Remember You" (Angel) - When Angel is promising he'll remember to Buffy, he says 'Sarah' by mistake. Its difficult to catch because his voice is so soft.
- "Family" . . Glory and Ben are one being right? Not in this episode... We focus on Ben at his locker in his medical scrubs, and then the camera moves away, to a demon hunting him. Then Glory grabs the demon from behind. She's wearing completely different clothes, and make-up...
-"Enemies" . . When Angel picks up the Mayor's letter opener, his hand's reflection can clearly be seen in desk's nameplate
-"The Wish" . . After Buffy fights the demon in the teaser, a cross is very visible on the park bench- why does she have anti-vamp material in broad daylight?
-"Faith, Hope and Trick" . . When Mr. Trick orders a soda, he is told it is 89¢. He hands over a note (lowest denomination: $1), but receives no change.
-"I, Robot... You, Jane" . . Just before Willow is captured by Fritz at her house, the computer goes black-screen to announce new mail. She doesn't touch it, but when Buffy & Xander get to her room the computer is displaying the e-mail.
-"The Pack" . . Just before Buffy drags the unconscious Xander into the library, Willow is shown researching, watching a video of Hyenas on her computer. But the scene on the computer changes and suddenly the creatures shown are Cape Hunting Dogs, a sort of African wild dog, totally unrelated to Hyenas (they are very different, with long legs and white-tipped tails). Thanks to Barry for pointing this one out.
-"What's My Line? Part II" . . When Xander slams the book closed to squash the bug, we see for a second it has 'Biology' on its cover. The camera cuts to the master shot (showing the whole scene) and the book now has a plain red cover.
-"Where the Wild Thing Are" . . When Spike convinces himself that he doesn't want to go into Lowell house to save Buffy and Riley, his reflection can be seen first in the window and then, even more clearly, in the glass door.
-"The Yoko Factor" . . When Spike comes "bursting" into Giles' place with the "top secret" disks, his reflection can be seen in a mirror behind Tara and Willow (not the one by the door).
-"Something Blue" . . In this episode, Giles' phone is a wall-mounted pale-coloured phone in the kitchen. Yet in other episodes ("The Dark Age", "Hush", "A New Man" et. al) it is a black desk phone.
-"Primeval" . . When Buffy pulls Adam's uranium core out, she holds it horizontally. In the next cut, she's holding it vertically, and then horizontally again.
-"Earshot" . . When Buffy first looks up at the clock tower (looking for Jonathan), the clock says 12:40, but when she looks back up a moment later, it says 12:10.
-"No Place Like Home" . . When Buffy is fighting a vampire outside the factory, he punches the No Entry sign, causing a massive dent. But later in the ep, when Buffy returns to the factory, the sign has mended itself.
- "The Gift" . . It is established that flowing The Key's blood will open the portal and it will not close until that blood stops flowing. Buffy jumps into the portal, stopping her blood flowing in Dawn's place because 'its the same blood'. It has also been established that the monks made the 'dawn' part of Dawn from Buffy and the 'key' part of Dawn from green energy. That energy is, as Spike confirms, in the blood. So in fact the only difference between Dawn and Buffy is the blood - if Dawn and Buffy have the same blood then she would also be the Key or Dawn would not be - they, therefore, cannot have the same blood.
- Season 4 - As many people who have attended college will know, you aren't exactly rich during those golden years. So how do Buffy & Willow afford a flat-screen computer, a TV, millions of outfits, etc?
- General Point - How come vampires clothing is affected as they are? A dusted vamp takes his clothes with him, and sometimes, but not always, the stake. Also, a vampire who isn't reflecting in a mirror also has invisible clothes.
- Many episodes - Many vampires, especially Spike, have been seen puffing smoke from a cigarette, panting, etc. How exactly do no-breath vamps manage this? Also, in order to talk, you expel breath, so how do vampires do it?
- "Gone" . . On the folders on Ms Kroeker's desk, we plainly see that the first two are labeled Christian name, surname (Phillip O'Claire) whereas Dawn's folder is labeled surname, Christian name. (Summers, Dawn)
- "Five by Five" (Angel) . . How can Angel get into the apartment where Faith was staying? The owner was still alive, in hospital.
-"Five by Five" (Angel) . . When Faith and Angel crash through the window and fight outside it isn't raining and the alley is dry. We see it start to rain, as the first drops fall on Angel's back. Yet when the camera pulls out to how the whole scene literally seconds later, there are huge puddles everywhere and water pouring off the roofs as if it had been raining for hours.
- "Tabula Rasa" . . Xander jumps from an off-pipe into the sewer and is hit by the vampire. On the second punch he falls backwards out of frame. He recovers awfully fast to be on his feet hitting the vamp just over a second later.
- "Offspring" (Angel) . . Holtz wears sunglasses in a scene set in 1771. An interesting accessory considering sunglasses did not exist until the nineteenth century and weren't commonplace until the 20th. Also the sewers in the sequence seem very modern for medieval Rome.
- "Lessons" . . When Buffy walks through the halls of the school they are remarkably empty considering school has just started (Dawn is just entering her first lesson).
- "Lessons" . . Principal Wood's office is, according to the plan Xander shows Buffy, apparently the size of the old library, so would probably be better called the Principal's mansion. Also, it seems awfully convenient that the two schools' plans line up exactly.
- "Help" . . Parts of the school look quite used (especially the handrail near where Dawn and Cassie talk) considering the school is only supposed to have been open at most a couple of weeks. The basement in a number of episodes seems quite dirty and full of junk considering it is very new. Also Cassie mentions being sent to Principal Wood 'again' as if she has been sent to him every week for months.
- "Selfless" . . Xander's injury on his face mysteriously disappears from his face sometime during the walk to Buffy's house. Also, Buffy is very badly injured from her rather brief struggle with the spider demon.
- "Same Time, Same Place" . . One of the photos on Willow's display is of Anya and Xander, a still from the episode "Something Blue" which she could not have taken a photo of in the context of the scene.
- "Same Time, Same Place" . . A couple of problems with the 'two views' idea, the most major one being: why doesn't Willow here the door open when she hears it close so clearly? When the gang enters it appears to make more noise opening than closing. And, why doesn't Willow leave the gang a note at the house, considering she is trying to find them? Why does Willow's spell work on Buffy and Xander but not Anya or Spike?
- "Lessons," "Same Time, Same Place" . . Sunnydale High is remarkably unobservant, considering Buffy and willow both wander about the school without being accosted by anyone as to what they are doing there.
