Boom Vang
The vang is relatively simple.  It involves the use of 2 heavy eyestraps, 2 loop top blocks, 2 loop top blocks with beckets, and 24 feet of 3/16" line.  The straps are attached, one on each stanchion, as low as I could feasibly get them.  One of the becketed blocks is attached to a strap and the line begins here on the becket.  It is then led up through a loop top block attached to the boom, and tied off on the loop portion of the second becketed block, which is free floating.  The second piece of line begins on the becketed part of the free floating block, is led back through the first becketed block, then upwards through the free floating becketed block, down through the loop top block which is attached to the other stanchion using a strap, and aft through the thwart.  It is then turned upwards through a cheek block then cleated off using a 360.   I suppose that one could cleat is using a camcleat, but in my case the 360 was already on the boat.
