Sacred Trees
As well as herbs, trees play an important role in Witchcraft.  They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as making wands, staffs and stangs and their fruit, bark, leaves etc can be used in spell working.  Below is a list of trees and their properties.

Alder - water magick, strength.

Apple - Associated with the element of water.  Use for making wands, in love spells and good luck charms.

Ash - Masculine and ruled by the Sun.  Its element is water.  Associated with purification - use to make brooms for cleansing and wands for healing.  Also associated with study and health matters.

Birch - Associated with purification,blessings, health, and beginnings.

Cypress - Masculine, ruled by Saturn and associated with the element of Earth.  Used to consecrate ritual tools, Cypress is often connected with death. 

Elder - Feminine plant ruled by Venus and the element of Air.  Often used in magick wands - it is considered bad luck to burn elder wood.  Hang its leaves around doors and windows to ward off evil.

Fir - Feminine, ruled by Saturn and the element Earth.  Very good for magick concerning protection, prosperity, birth and rebirth.

Hawthorn - Masculine, ruled by Mars and the element Fire.  Said to promote happiness in marriage and relationships.  Also associated with purification and protection.

Hazel
- Masculine, ruled by the Sun and the element Air.  Very good for magick wands and believed to be the only wood suitable for divining.

Holly - Masculine, ruled by Mars and the element Fire.  Protects against evil, enhances magick and fertility.

Ivy - Masculine, ruled by Saturn and the element of Water.  Traditionally, holly and ivy were given to newly-weds as a good luck charm.  Associated with fertility and love.

Mountain Ash (Rowan) - Masculine, ruled by the Sun and the element of Fire.  Used to make dowsing rods and wands.  Associated with protection, healing  and good luck.

Oak - Masculine, ruled by the Sun and the element of Fire.  Associated with fertility, power, balance, protection, success.

Pine - Masculine, ruled by Mars and the element of Air.  Helps focus the mind and is often burnt in cleansing rituals.  Similar associations as Fir.

Poplar - success.

Vine - happiness.

Willow - Feminine, ruled by the Moon and the element of Water.  Wands of willow can be used for healing and work best at a new moon.  Used in moon magick, wishing spells and brooms.

Yew - psychic awareness, spirits, death passage.
