The final of the three harvest festivals and the last Sabbat of the Wheel of the Year.  The death of the God occurs at Samhain.  This festival is typically a time for reflection and communing with the dead.  It is believed that at Samhain the boundary between the physical and spiritual planes is thin. 
Sabbat Deities: the goddess in her crone aspect, Hecate, Morrigan, Cernunnos, Osiris.
Colours:  brown, black.
Herbs:  apples, deadly nightshade, ferns, flax, mandrake, sage, straw.
Altar Decorations: pumpkins, apples and other fruit, cauldrons, scrying mirror, crystal ball.
Traditions:  leaving a plate of food out for the dead, lighting a candle in a window to guide the dead "home".
Magick:  divination.
