Day 1: Plan

Learning Goal: students will work together to develop and think through a plan before implementation.
Objectives: Discuss tomorrow’s objective and how to accomplish it by following the rules.
Rules:
  1. Use your time wisely.
  2. Write down your strategy and store the paper in your classroom crate. (Don’t forget names.)
Day 2: Build
Learning Goal: students will use communication and teamwork skills to complete a common objective.
Objective: Build the tallest structure of pennies in the room.
Rules:
  1. You have ________ minutes to build your structure.
  2. Your structure may only consist of pennies.
  3. You may only use the special tools provided: tweezers, toothpicks, string, etc. No hands touching the pennies!
  4. Your structure must be built on the surface provided.
  5. No two students can have the same job. Everyone must have a different job. (FYI: tweezers operator and toothpick operator are two different jobs.)
  6. Students may have multiple jobs.
  7. You may only ask five yes/no questions during both days.
