Oxford, NC (formerly Max Factor & Co.) 2/85 - present Security Manager / Investigator Directly manage a mixed staff of twenty-six officers and a supervisor at main facility (expanded to 1,100,000 sq. ft.). Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, policy/procedure development and implementation, budgetary allocations, expenditures, and records retention. Act as liaison between management and contract guard force at satellite facilities. Perform investigations, security audits, and safety inspections. Provide protective escorts for visiting executives and celebrity spokesmodels. Serve as an alternate chief of in-house emergency squad for fire, HazMat and medical emergencies. Perform on-line criminal record investigations of applicants. Generate incident and monthly reports for corporate security management. Oversee operation of and perform minor work on CCTV system, video imaging station, communication equipment, access control, and fire/security monitoring equipment. Design original forms for usage at various corporate sites. Coordinate with corporate security management on special projects as requested. Perform security assessments and presentations for off-campus facilities and vendor sites. Document and track qualifications for all forklift operators. Responsible for all computer automation and support for the department (ID System Administrator). Member in good standing of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), RTP Chapter #119. • Created a computerized database for executive management to track certified forklift operators. • As part of a multiple agency investigation, apprehended an employee responsible for theft and product diversion. • Developed and presented an original security orientation program for a neighboring company’s in-house staff. • Designed and built simulated CCTV cameras for use in problem areas or during special events. • Instituted a telephone “Hotline” for anonymously reporting security violations and suspicious acts. • Responsible for implementation of PC based trailer tracking and video imaging ID systems Max Factor & Co. Oxford, NC 10/83 - 7/87 Security Sergeant / Shift Supervisor Enforced all aspects of established security policy for 500,000 sq. ft. cosmetics manufacturing and distribution center. Supervised and trained a contract guard force of ten (10) officers. Conducted emergency preparation drills, patrols, and investigations. Operated two-way radio and telephone equipment, photo ID and fire/security alarm systems. • Developed a set of procedural guidelines for transporting and storing sensitive or high value materials. • On own initiative implemented a camera surveillance investigation, which resolved a theft and vandalism problem. • Jointly coordinated the successful transfer of company assets during a major reorganization to out-of-state facilities. Was responsible for scheduling, payroll, hiring, training, and equipment requisition. Conducted security checks to prevent pilferage, fire loss, and unauthorized entry/exit of facility. • Conducted facility orientation and security awareness training for new employees. • Prepared a detailed technical evaluation of client alarm system which resulted in several system upgrades. North Carolina State Guard Headquarters, Ft. Bragg NC 8/89 – 12/98 Major, Headquarters - HQ Company, Special Operations Group Commissioned officer in all volunteer reserve component of N.C. National Guard. Served on command staff as Administrative Officer and Instructor for NCSDM Military Academy. In addition, served on headquarters staff and as an operational member of HQ Special Operations Group in support of law enforcement, civil defense, rescue, and training missions.
