Thomas News

11/11/02   From TJ Web visitor Romy: (thanks, Romy!)

"Read an interesting article about Patricia. Seems she sent her ex, Nicholas Cage, on a wild-goose chase to prove his love. She wanted him to find some rare black orchid located in some obscure part of the world. When he couldn't find it, he drew one on a piece of paper. She was expecting a proposal but did not get it, so she proposed to him dressed in black vinyl from head to toe, carrying a purple wedding cake. How frightening is that? Now picture Tom and Patricia's wedding. I can only imagine. Maybe, he won't go through with it. Oh, and the best part, she made Nicholas eat garlic every time he had to do a love scene with another actress other than herself. Didn't want anybody to get attracted to him. Hope Tom likes garlic".  Can you say PARANOID???

10/10/02 From TJ Web vistor Phantom (Thank you, Phantom for this nugget!!))

From Empire.com  With This Reel...  Actor Thomas Jane devised a novel way to propose to his girlfriend Patricia Arquette. The couple were watching a silent movie in a cinema in Los Angeles when Arquette was surprised to see the words 'Patricia, will you marry me?' spliced into the film. As befits such a romantic gesture, the former Mrs Cage was happy to shout 'Yes!' in return

10/06/02  Lisa Marie Presley may have nabbed a humongous diamond ring (6 or 7 carats!) when she married Patricia Arquette's ex Nicolas Cage, but Arquette herself seems to have snagged a much larger gift from her betrothed, actor Thomas Jane: a baby... Or at least a baby-to-be.

According to the upcoming issue of Us Weekly, Arquette and Jane, who announced their engagement just a couple of months ago, are expecting a little bambino. It will be their first, but Arquette's second: She has a 13-year-old son, Enzo Rossi, fathered by musician Paul Rossi.

"She's five months pregnant," one of Arquette's buddies told the magazine. "She's showing now."

Hope the baby looks like Thomas and not like this..

With all this , Olvia d'Abo is obviously old news.. but you can still read this funny, short interview with the two of them from the May 2000 issue of Interview Magazine.

Stephen King's Dreamcatcher

Dreamcatcher News

**The release date has been pushed back from Feb 7 to April 4, 2002

**Visit the Official Warner Bros. Dreamcatcher website, Click on video journal for some great video of Thomas & the rest of the cast from the Dreamcatcher set

**Check out the Dreamcatcher Trailer  Pay close attention though.. blink, and you'll miss Thomas' 1 line - he says "you're not Jonesy" in a rather raspy, sexy voice...

Plot summary:

"Dreamcatcher, the film based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel, tells of four young friends who perform a heroic act — and are changed forever by the uncanny powers they gain in return. Years later the friends, now men, are on a hunting trip in the Maine woods when they are overtaken by a blizzard, a vicious storm in which something much more ominous moves…

Challenged to stop an alien force, the friends must first prevent the slaughter of innocent civilians by a military vigilante, then overcome a threat to the bond between them. In the end, the friends confront an unparalleled horror, with the fate of the world in the balance."

A few words from me: I have read the book, and I am SO EXCITED to see this movie.  I can't wait to see Thomas' portrayal of Henry Devlin, the complicated main character in Dreamcatcher story. Although, through much of the story he is quite fully clothed running around in the snow-covered backwoods of Maine - probably no chances of seeing him in little to no clothing :(

My Advice is: Read the book before you see the film... I've heard that this film is more closely adapted from the book than any other Stephen King movie.

Rain Falls (2003) - no official site yet!

Recent News on Rain Falls

**On May 29, 2002 Variety reported that Myriad Pictures has dropped Rain Falls. Fine Line Features will now produce the movie and is rumored to be recasting the lead roles. Production is still set to begin in July 2002.

**From Upcoming movies.com:

Cast Notes: (9/18/01) At one point, Kate Beckinsale was attached to star, but her role has apparently gone to Amanda Peet instead. (6/5/02) Well, this was expected to star Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Thomas Jane, Amanda Peet, and Ian Somerhalder, but with Fine Line coming aboard, they've decided to recast completely from scratch. Ah, but surprise, surprise, this also means Kate Beckinsale is now back in talks to rejoin the project again.

(As of September 2002, I am still anxiously awaiting word on recasting - Thomas Jane is most likely no longer involved in this project)

Plot summary (cast from Myriad Pictures version):

Rain Falls is a dark comedy about suburban couple swapping.  Patricia Arquette and Thomas Jane play Evelyn and Arliss Price, your average upper middle class couple with children, a big house and the perfect lawn.  Christian Slater and Amanda Peet play Matt and Kelly Glass who propose swapping partners.  The Price's perfect world starts to crumble when, after initial hesitation, both couples get closer and go through with the erotic experiment.  Intended as a brief adventure, the situation gets complicated when Matt falls in love with Evelyn.

Stander (2003) - no official site yet! Click here for page about "Stander" on IMDB

Plot summary:

"In the early 1980's, a white police officer (Andres Stander, played by Thomas Jane) in Johannesburg suffers a crisis of conscience due to his involvement in apartheid and becomes a notorious bank robber on the run. Then from 1983 to 1984, the "Stander gang" (Stander, Alan Heyl & Patrick McCall) rob as many as four banks a day".

Casting update: Robert Carlyle (The Full Monty) & Embeth Davidtz (Briget Jones' Diary) have recently been added to the cast
