Get Over It may look like the typical teen fare, with all the lovey-dovey hoopla which movies like Down To You have. But, when you go to see this movie in the theaters, you will notice something. This fatc is not true about this film. It is one of the first teen comedies I have seen which is a full-fledged musical, but deifnetly not the first which deals with Shakespeare. Well, anyways. Here's how the story goes:

Berke (Foster) and Alison (Melissa Sagemiller) are the first two characters we are introduced to. They have been best friends since thye were kids and are now dating in high school. But, they break up, and he walks away from her house broken hearted. Sounds typical, right? Nope. Right after this event, Vitamin C pops up out of nowhere and starts dancing behind him and singing "Love Will Keep Us Together." But that is not all, she is followed by a marching band and several other random people who feel the urge to dance around the streets. But the story continues. Berke is depressed and his friends, Dennis (Sisqo) and Felx (Hanks), decide to set him up with random people, including a stripper named Mistress Moira (Carmen Electra). Meanwhile, Alison has started going out with Striker (West) a boy band member who is in love with himself. They try out for the school play, which, directed by Forest Oaks (Martin Short) who is completely theatre obsessed, is a musical version of the Shakespeare classic, now called "A Midsummer Night's Rockin' Eve." He eventually gets in, along with Felix's sister Kelly (Dunst) who decides to help him learn his lines after one of the leads is injured. While Kelly is obviosuly falling for Berke, he is torn between his lifelong crush Alison and Kelly, who he is now beginning to notice.

With more performances from Ed Begley Jr, Swoosie Kurtz, Mila Kunis, Vitamin C, and others, this movie avoids the typical route for this type of film and takes a new and inventive way. Martin Short is absolutely hysterical as the theatre director. Almost everybody else is great in their roles, with a few exceptions. Carmen Electra is really only in the movie for 10 seconds, so what was the point of her role? Also, Sisqo is not as good as he could have been in his first starring role, but you don't really expect too much from him. Also, Kirsten Dunst actually sings in this movie, and she is pretty good, actually. Since I am on a time restraint while writing this reviw, I'll end with a closing note.
Get Over It is a good teen comedy which takes the 10 Things I Hate About You- route instead of the Down To You one.
