Thora KEEPS WINNING!!!!! "The Maze" to be shown in WB Latin America!!!!

As you all know, Thora won "Best Actress" at the Seattle International Film Festival and "Best Acting Performance" at the Deauville Film Festival, and her role as Enid in Ghost World keeps bringing her recognition! Thora walked away with the "Best Female Performance" at the 5th annual Toronto Film Critics Association!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scarlett Johansson (who plays Rebecca in Ghost World) got the "Best Female Supporting Performance". And if that wasn't enough, Thora got "Best Actress" again last week at the San Diego Film Critics Society!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Terry Zwigoff was awarded as the "Best Director" and shared the "Best Adapted Screenplay" award with Daniel Clowes.
If you thought that was it, YOU'RE WRONG, Thora has a couple of new nominations for her work in Ghost World!!!! The International Press Academy announced it's nominees for the Golden Satellites Awards for 2001 and Thora got a nomination for "Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy"!!!!!! Steve Buscemi also got a nomination for his supporting role. And to round up Thora's nominations, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association recently announced its nominees for the Golden Globe Awards, and Thora is nominated for "Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy"!!!!! She's up against Cate Blanchett (Bandits), Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge), Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde) and Renee Zellweger (Bridget Jones's Diary). That makes 4 awards for Thora and 2 more nominations!!!!! Keep it up Thora!!!

On other exciting news, the people from the Warner Channel Latin America website were kind enough to inform us that even though the show "Night Visions" (which is currently being shown in the Warner Channel Latin America) was cancelled in the United States before the episode in which Thora guest-starred was shown, they will be showing ALL episodes the Warner Channel produced, INCLUDING "THE MAZE", THE EPISODE IN WHICH THORA MADE HER GUEST APPEARANCE!!!!!!!!!! "The Maze" will air on January 23.
Smokers in US and ITSY BITSY SPIDER: THE MYSTERY UNCOVERED!!!!!

As you know, MGM picked up Thora's film "The Smokers" for distribution SOME WHILE ago, and they finally got round to distributing it, the film will be released on DVD the same day Ghost World's released on DVD (February 5, 2002). Current information does not include any special features in the DVD, but the technical details are listed as follows: Screen Format: 16x9 Widescreen, Standard, Languages: ENGLISH (Stereo), Subtitles: ENGLISH, FRENCH, SPANISH. You can PRE-ORDER the film at the Thora Store now!!!!!!!. "The Smokers" is rated R.
Continuing with Smokers, the MGM site has some sound clips of the film available at their site, including a Thora clip in which she says "You're not my mother!", you can listen to it here. You may also listen to some more clips from the film at the MGM site.
On other news, the mystery regarding Thora's participation in the short-film "Itsy Bitsy Spider" has been uncovered. I got my copy of Bebe's Kids, the film which features the animated short, some days ago and Thora DOES PARTICIPATE IN THE SHORT, she is in the credits and everything, Thora makes the voice of the young girl. The short is good, well made and entertaining although it might appeal more to a young audience, it is about 12 minutes long and it is about a spider (itsy), which is discovered in a house. The owner, who is teaching Thora's character to play the piano, hires an exterminator to eliminate the spider, which leads to desastrous results. At first I didn't recognize Thora's voice very much, but by the end I completely did, she has a voice like the one she had in Patriot Games, probably a little younger. You can ORDER Bebe's Kids at the Thora Store right now!!!!!. "Itsy Bitsy Spider" is rated PG and Bebe's Kids is rated PG-13.

You read right, Ghost World's coming to DVD and VHS on February 5, 2002, but the VHS has a high price because it is priced for studio rentals, you may pre-order them now at the Thora Store!!

Well, I had forgotten to mention this but The Hole has now opened in more cities in Mexico, here's the places where it is currently playing: Cd. Acuña, Coahuila, Cd. Madero, Cd. Obregón, Celaya, Chihuahua, Coatzacoalcos, Colima, Culiacán, Hermosillo, León, Matamoros, Pachuca, Querétaro, Reynosa and Saltillo, so if you live in any of this places, rush to see The Hole!!!!!

First of all, I apologise for not updating the newsroom but I have had lots of thing to do and it took me long to find a new chatroom to replace the old non-working one, as you may have noticed, the NEW THORA BIRCH NEWS CHATROOM is now open, you may visit it here.
If you have been visiting often, you may have noticed that the voting for the Second Annual Thora Birch News Awards: 2001 is now over and that there is already (finally) a date set for the awards: it is December 7 at 8 PM eastern time/ 7 pm central time at the NEW THORA BIRCH NEWS CHATROOM!!!!! Please have in mind that things may always turn up so the date and time are always subject to change, if the date is changed, you will be notified right here, so stay tuned!
