FIRE PRECAUTIONS: Fire Alarm may be the continuous ringing of the camp bell or siren. All campers must report to the Assembly point in the Alpha House / Hayvern forecourt. Leaders must check their group to account for everyone. Campers MUST provide a fire bucket for each fire/cooking area, or Fire Blancket/ Fire Extinguisher if using gas or stoves.
FIRES: Fires on camp sites for cooking or refuse burning MUST be on a concrete fire base or altar fire. All sites have at least one concrete fire base. There may be fire wood available at the wood piles near Sandy Patch or HQ Site. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES may any tree be cut, but dead wood may be gathered. Before departure all unused wood should be stacked neatly. Cold ashes should be placed in the large metal bins at the incinerator area. (Wheel Barrow and shovel available from Wardens).
REFUSE & RECYCLING: All rubbish should be placed in the large bins near the shop. Glass bottles and jars must not be placed on fires and should be placed directly into the large bins. Similar disposal arrangements must be made for aerosol cans and gas cylinders or cans. If you wish to have glass or other items recycled you should take them home for recycling.
WET AND DRY PITS: In the interests of safety NO pits may be dug within the site. Wet waste can be filtered through plastic sacks over ground away from pedestrian movement areas. No waste should be left on the ground and the filter area should be checked frequently and moved whenever the ground becomes soft. Bags should be disposed of in the normal way.
ACCIDENTS: Whilst groups should make their own arrangements for dealing with accidents, they should nevertheless be reported to the Duty Camp Warden for recording. A first aid kit is available at the Lodge and assistance may be sought from the Camp Warden if necessary.
VEHICLES: Vehicles are not permitted beyond the white barrier without the permission of the Camp Wardenand then only for cars carrying tents and equipment.. Vehicles are not permitted on camp sites and must be left in the car park once unloaded, however, trailers may be left adjacent to sites. Vehicles are parked at owners' risk. We ask that leaders ensure that parents and visitors are aware of these conditions. Care must be shown along Brick Kiln Lane as children and animals may be about. MAXIMUM SPEED 5 MPH.
BOUNDARIES: These are shown on the map. If in doubt ask the Camp Warden. Please do not allow any members of the group to violate the boundaries as we do not wish to upset our neighbours. Also if areas are roped off, please keep out. The Clay Pond area, behind the Lodge, is out of bounds to all and the pond is deep.
NOISE: All campers are requested to be as quiet as possible between 11:00pm and 7.00am.
FLAG BREAK AND FLAG DOWN: Breaking and lowering of the flag takes place at the main flag pole next to the Lodge and will be denoted by the ringing of the camp bell. All campers within earshot are asked to stand still and face the flag whilst it is raised or lowered. Any Group wishing to participate in this ceremony should contact the Warden.
ACTIVITIES: A full list of Activities is available on this website and from the Warden on duty. An activities booking form and booking procedureis sent with all site/building bookings. Please contact the booking secretary for further copies.
ALCOHOL/SMOKING POLICY: it is expected that all adults on site will adhere to guidance issued by the Scout Association (Fact Sheets FS185092 & FS32005). In particular adults should not drink or smoke in the presence of those under 18 and also at any one time at least two adults at the event should not consume alcohol.
DEPARTURE: All sites and buildings must be inspected by the Camp Warden BEFORE departure. Please leave your site or building clean and tidy. There are checklists in every building along with cleaning equipment and camp sites should be checked for litter, tent pegs etc before calling for a site check.
