Mid-American Greek Council
Association 2001 Conference

(do not pillage, rape, or burn the hotel)

MGCA STANDARDS POLICY

Conference Behavior Expectations

We have high expectations of appropriate behavior at the conference to ensure that the Mid-American Greek Council Association (MGCA) continues to maintain a reputation for excellence and high standards. In an effort to minimize hotel security involvement, behavior standards will be monitored and enforced by the MGCA Standards committee. While the Council's Head Delegate is responsible for the conduct of the members of his or her delegation, it is expected that each conference participant will read, understand, and follow conference behavior rules as well as appropriate federal, state and local laws. However, the Head Delegate will be held accountable for the actions of members within his or her delegation.

In all situations involving underage drinking or fake Ids the individuals will be sent home and the following people will be notified: the University Advisor, the Vice-President of Student Affairs, and the appropriate National officers.

The Hyatt prohibits any guest from bringing alcohol into his or her room. It is vital that all delegates understand and comply with this request.

The first incidence of damages will necessitate that individuals be sent home, and the University Advisor, Vice-President of Student Affairs, and National officers be notified. Additionally, as occupants of a hotel room are legally responsible, any damages to rooms will be billed to the individuals registered to that room.

If a noise complaint is received regarding a room, the Standards committee will usually take the following steps:

First Incident: Disperse any individuals not registered in the room and notify the University Advisor

Second Incident: Send individuals home, notify University Advisor, Vice-President of Student Affairs, and National officers

MGCA can be held responsible for any damages to public areas of the hotel. In the past, damages have been minimal; however, if damages occur, MGCA fees may need to be increase to pay for such damages to the hotel. Please help to keep costs manageable by acting responsibly.

MGCA has an excellent reputation as a responsible group. With everyone's cooperation and assistance, we believe we can present Greek systems and their members in a positive light and continue to be welcome at the Hyatt.
