Shadows

lights, a table, a vase
and three roses.

doesn't seem like much
for a trick.

Teller brings a knife onstage
and examins the rose's shadows.

he trims off a rosebud
cutting it off at the stem.

but he did not touch the rose
he cut it's shadow!

he pruned the rose's shadow
and the rosebud dropped.

He finnished off the final shadow
and the pod dropped to the ground.

he cut his finger on the blade
which produces an odd laugh from the crowd.

he held his hand and caught it in the light.
We looked at the shadow of his hand.

his shadow started to bleed,
but not a drop came from him!

how did he cut the flowers?
how did his shadow bleed?

this is illusion at it's finest
and most mind-boggling.

he wiped a little blood on the screen as the light faded out.
the audience was plauged with doubt.

the image is perfect
not another like it in the world.

then the more intruiging question is raised.
since we know we will never figure it out,

not HOW did he do this,
but rather, WHY?
