Every Cadet has the opportunity to take part in Air Experience Flying in two seater training aircraft and Air Experience gliding in high performance gliders. Occasionally, there is flying in Helicopters and fast Jets.
Cadets can apply for training courses in many disciplines. One such is the
Flying Scholarship scheme, where training is given at a private flying school
approved by the RAF to within a few hours of obtaining a full Private Pilots
License - all for free!
Basic Gliding Training is also given. At one of the ATC Volunteer Gliding
Schools, training is undertaken normally over a few weekends culminating
in a solo flight.
Not to mention Skiing, Parachuting and more recently even Hang Gliding and
Microlight flying.
