fun facts about 3 feet up
As of January 2007, Victoria is now a nationally syndicated writer with the American Chronicle online news magazine!

3 feet up played their first show on June 10, 2004 at
Acoustic Coffee in Portland, Maine. The place was filled to capacity - most were there to see the band that followed them!

Why did Chris & Victoria name their band "3 feet up"? It has been said that the physical location of heaven is about 3 feet up from the ground - not up in the clouds! This was kind of fascinating and it had kind of a spiritual ring to it, so they thought "why not?"

June 10 is Chris & Victoria's anniversary. They were married in 2001 at the Nubble Lighthouse
(take a look) in York Beach, Maine. On their way back home after getting hitched, they saw a Blandings turtle by the side of the road. The Blandings turtle is an endangered species.

Victoria first picked up drumsticks on April 4, 2004. That's about 2 months before their first show!

One of their first recording sessions was for a CD called
"Notes From Home", a compilation of Maine artists that was sent to Maine soldiers in Iraq in the summer of '04. There were 2 songs by 3 feet up: "Untie Your Head" and "Small Birds". Much to their surprise, the disc opened with "Untie Your Head". The CD is not available to the public.

Victoria is from
Augusta, Georgia. Chris was born in Westbrook, Maine and grew up in the greater Boston (Massachusetts) area.

Chris joined the US Army in 1982 and was stationed at Ft. Gordon, Georgia (near Augusta) as part of the
Signal Corps Band. Chris was a percussionist in the band and stayed in the army until June 12, 1988.

Victoria's son Steven was born on June 12, 1984 and died on November 9, 2002.

Chris was married for the first time when he met Victoria in 1991. Victoria was dating his guitar player at the time. The two became good friends. Chris was divorced in 1996. Victoria married someone else in 1996. Eventually the two were both available and started dating in 1999.

Victoria used to work a switchboard at a hospital on the graveyard shift. She also used to do construcion, screen printing, photography and home-schooled Steven for a few years. Currently, she's working on the 104 year old house that she & Chris bought in North Carolina.

Chris worked in a few music stores, was part of a classic rock radio station morning show, worked in a recording studio, was a barista at
Starbucks, and currently is a brass & woodwind musical instrument repair tech in Burlington, NC.

Chris' musical career began with him playing drums in high school. Soon after, he taught himself guitar, bass & keyboards. He still considers himself a bass player at heart.

The couple has an 18lb tabby cat named "Tigger", a chihuahua named "Taco" and a mud turtle named "Stumpy".

Victoria enjoys turtles, painting, reading, writing, photography and gardening.

Chris enjoys
martial arts, road trips, Eastern philosophy, baseball and hockey.

on their
new CD, the guitar intro on "teflon brain" is chris' grandfather's old silvertone jumbo acoustic. chris' mom bought it for her dad (harvey lailer) in 1960.

victoria's
snare drum is made from carbon fiber! so is chris' acoustic guitar!

both chris & victoria use
acupuncture regularly!

has this ever happened to you? in january 2006, chris lost his taste for
coffee. he just couldn't drink it anymore! so he now enjoys many types of tea. his favorite? Tazo Zen (green tea with lemongrass & spearmint).

on july 3, 2006 3 feet up was selected out of thousands of video entries to be featured as one of 3 finalists on the CBS Early Show's "Living Room Live" series. unfortunately, they didn't get to the next round. this time.
