Welcome to Cardinals in the Bushes!

This site is for St. Louis Cardinals fans who love minor league baseball!

It features original articles on the many players in the Cardinals farm system written by myself and other fans. During the season, there will be reports on many of their clubs on a weekly or monthly basis, again written by fans.

Cardinals in the Bushes is an extension of a forthcoming book I am writing which will be published in Spring 2001. It will discuss player development in the Cardinals farm system through interviews with director of player development Mike Jorgensen as well as the many roving instructors, managers and coaches in the organization. The book will also focus on the players themselves, their stories of climbing the minor league ladder, and their experiences along the way.

These Cardinals prospects hope to improve their chances of making it to the major leagues by listening to Cardinals instructors such as minor league hitting coordinator Mitchell Page (seated), who played eight seasons with Oakland and Pittsburgh.

(L to R) Minor league field coordinator Joe Pettini, Cardinals GM Walt Jocketty, Johnson City outfielder Ben Johnson and assistant pitching coordinator Dyar Miller before game time.
