DAVID BUCCI (gtr/voc) CHAD NICHOLS (gtr/voc/organ)
COBY CARDOSA (drumkit/organ)
Six year veterans of Austin's underground noise rock scene, ENDURO has releasedthree 7"s as well as a full length CD on Self-Starter Foundation (Les Savy Fav, Mooney Suzuki). On the "Half Rack of Sugar" CD, ENDURO turns it out like Sam Peckinpah directing a Russ Meyers film. Mean and sleazy drum beats piston into filthy guitar riffs propelling a tough and sexy rock music engine straight down on the tracks. Clocking in at an incredibly exciting 30:22, the listener can clearly sense that this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Drawing upon the rich traditions of '60s soul garage rock and'70s heavy metal, the ENDURO rock group may be a position to make punk rock relevant again by placing its emphasis firmly on the ROCK half of the equation. Ironically appropriate pop song structures serve as the template against which ENDURO presses electric hot guitars, vintage organs tones, and wild rock grooves that make all the girls dance and all the boys stare.
Mr. Cardosa's gigantic rock, swing, and disco stompsmake the listener give pause to consider how he rocks so big on a 3-piece kit. Comparisons to Mitch Mitchell may well go beyond Mr. Cardosa's impressively thick afro.
Mr. Nichols' lust-powered Les Paul lays down thick fuck grooves while his vocal snarls and growls set the listener up for a rocking that is as serious as a sex attack.
If Mr. Nichols is the balls, Mr. Bucci is the dick. Mr. Bucci's percussive SG guitar playing scratches, rips, and chuckas a gash just wide enough for the listener to be shocked and amused at his near psychotic soul shout rantings.
