Day 13...  Theothuacan Pyramids & Closing
23 July 2000, Theothuacan, Mexico
Day 13 was the last day of the 11th World Scout Moot.  Closing of the camp was planned for all day, as all of the campers would hike the short three kilometers to the main Aztec Pyramids at Theothuacan for an aerial photo.  Unfortunately, the government of Mexico decided at the last minute to not allow the Moot organisers to take a picture of the pyramids in this manner, but we all enjoyed the time at this historic spot.

Ryan, Ryan and Mike were some of the first people to make it to the pyramids from camp.  When we arrived, we spent some time poking around the tourist shops and the attraction of the pyramids.  Then we decided to climb to the top of the highest pyramid, the Temple of the Sun.  A photo from the top follows...  the pyramid in the shot is the Temple of the Moon.

We hund out on top of the temple for about an hour.  By then, many more people from the moot (and some tourists) were reaching the top of the Sun temple, so it was starting to get kind of crowded.  We made the steep descent, and wandered around down on the ground a little while longer before gathering at the Temple of the Moon with the rest of the Moot participants.

Here's a picture of the Temple of the Sun from the bottom...  eventually, all of the steps were covered in Rovers in uniform!

Here's a picture from the top of the Temple of the Moon (the Temple of the Sun is on the left.)

Here's the Mexican Contingent, staff and participants, at the Pyramids...  (photo thanks to Estoban Mendieta of the 26th Edmonton Crew.)

This is just a small sampling of the people who were at Camp Closing.  I wish that we had video, because so much singing and dancing was going on...  still photography just doesn't do it justice!

When we returned to VillaMoot, it was time for the official Closing Ceremony.  Here's a couple of pictures of the goings-on thanks to Estoban of Edmonton:
