We all piled onto busses in the morning, and were driven out into the coutryside to a small town called San Juan. There, we were helping to build a community centre. We ate our lunch and took breaks when we could (well, some people took more breaks than others...) Anyway, a lot of work got done before we got back onto the busses and returned to Tepotzlan.
Here is a bunch of us clearing a field. The community centre was to be built right here (it was kind of on the side of a mountain.) The structure in the back is a greenhouse.
This is a group of Rovers making bricks that would later be used in the construction of the actual building. (The photo has a red tinge because there was a large plastic tarp over the area where the bricks were made.)
A garden was to be planted in this spot.
Here's a picture of the flags at the camp entrance.
After dinner, the biggest fiesta of them all was planned. The mariachi band was back, and there were plenty of fireworks and traditional Mexican food. We ate things like corn on the cob with mayonaise, tacos - all kinds of fried things, really. The fireworks were most impressive actually, especially the ones that the guys ran around with. It looked very dangerous, although we were assured that everything was quite safe. Nevertheless, I don't think anything like that would be allowed in Canada!
