Chapter 1
19 year old Frank Hardy sat in his bedroom staring out his window. He ran a hand through his bark brown hair, and sighed. He heard his bedroom door open from behind and then close. He didn't even turn. He continued to stare out his window.
"Frank, are you okay?" His Father asked walking into Frank's room.
"I am fine Dad, just thinking." Frank said quietly.
"About what?" He asked walking up behind him, and resting a hand on Frank's shoulders.
"A bunch of things." He said looking at his Father's hands and then continued looking out the window.
"I got some news for you. Joe was spotted in Massachusetts. I am looking into it. I think we may find him." Fenton said, patting his hand on Frank's back.
"Dad, why don't you just give up. He has been spotted here and everywhere. I can't take it." Frank said and kept staring out the window.
"I know you miss him...." He started but Frank interrupted.
"Dad, you have no idea, what happened when he left. We had a huge fight, and it was awful." Frank said and stood up moving away from his Father.
"Frank, that was six months ago. I am sure he is fine, and over it." Fenton said trying to make his son happy again. He had been depressed the day Joe left.
"Dad, you don't know what happened between us, and he can never forgive me." Frank said, and sat on Joe's bean bag chair, he had taken out of Joe's room, to remind him of Joe.
"Then will you tell me what happened?" Frank asked walking over to his son, and knelt beside him.
"I can't Dad. I am sorry." Frank mumbled. "I just want my brother back. When he left, part of me left with him." Frank said frowning.
"Frank, you need to do something. Please don't keep hiding yourself from us. Especially your Mother. You and her have barely spoken. Is there something going on?" Fenton asked.
"I don't want to talk about her Dad." Frank said and looked away. "She told me something and did something, that I will never forgive her for."
"What did she do?" Fenton asked.
Frank looked at his Father. "Remember what happened to Joe, before he left? When he crashed through the door, and was hurt." Frank questioned his father.
"Yes I do." Fenton said.
"Well, would you believe that Mom did that to him?" Frank asked.
Fenton stared at his sons face. From his expression, he knew he was telling the truth. But Fenton did not want to believe it.
"Frank, I don't know if she did or not but..." Fenton started but Frank jumped up from his chair.
"She did Dad! Joe told me! Michaela, remember her?" Frank asked.
Fenton nodded. "Yes I do, she was the girl that was with Joe."
"Mom attacked her two times! Once with Joe, and then once in the woods. I hate her right now! And I don't want to have anything to do with her!" Frank yelled.
Fenton stood up. "Don't say that son. She loves you. Are you sure its her you're angry at?" Fenton asked his son.
A lump formed in Frank's throat, and his eyes began watering. He sat on his bed. "I don't know Dad." He said quietly. Fenton sat beside his son, and pulled him close.
"Fenton, darling, can you please come help me down stairs?" Laura Hardy asked stepping into the room.
"Sure." He said, and patted Frank on the head and walked out of his room.
Laura stood in the doorway.
"Mom, get out!" Frank said coldly.
"Frank, you have to face the truth. You can't keep shielding yourself from everyone." She said.
He remained silent and she shook her head and left the room, closing the door< behind her.
Frank let out a deep sigh. There was a knock on the front door, and he heard his mother answer.
"Frank! It's Callie!" She yelled up to him.
Frank groaned and got out of bed. He walked out of his bedroom, and down the stairs. He saw Callie standing at the front door.
"Hi Frank." She said.
"How are you?" He asked her, sticking his hands in his pockets, rather than giving her a kiss.
"Not good I am afraid." She said. "Can you come out here for a sec? I want to speak with you in private." She said. He nodded and stepped outside closing the front door behind him.
"What's going on Callie?" He asked as he closed the door.
"Now Frank, I know Joe is gone, but you need to get over it!" She said straight out. He gave her a shocked expression. "You have been ignoring me, and your friends. We have not gone out in over a month. What is going on Frank?!" She asked.
"I just can't deal with everyone right now." He said, and rubbed his eyes.
She slapped him across the face. "We are over Frank! You are not going to use me when ever you want. Goodbye." She said and walked down the front steps, leaving a shocked Frank, on the front steps.
Frank opened the front door again, and walked inside, quietly closing the door behind him, and he stood up against it.
"You okay son?" Fenton asked walking over to him.
"I hate girls." He mumbled.
"I never thought would hear you say that." Fenton said, sipping some coffee, from the cup he held.
"Well, people change Dad." Frank told him.
"Fenton, want to come with me to the grocery store?" Laura Hardy asked walking in on the two and wrapping her arm around Fenton's waist.
"Of course darling." Fenton said. He turned back to Frank. "You going to be okay?" He asked.
"Of course Dad, I am not five years old." Frank said trying to joke.
"Alright then, we will see you soon." Fenton said, and placed his cup in the sink in the kitchen and came back out. "Bye Frank." He said, and ruffled Franks hair.
"Bye." He said, and watched his father leave out the door.
His mother stood before him as he left. "I can't believe you!" Frank said to her.
"Why is that Frank?" His Mother asked sharply.
"Your trying to take Dad away from me! You can go shopping alone. You interrupted us twice! We were talking, and you come in and take him away. I am so sick of this crap Mom!" Frank yelled at her.
"Don't you speak to me like that ever again, or I will kick you out of this house!" She yelled back.
"I don't care Mom. If Joe were here, I would move out and he would to. Your the reason he's gone. I hope you're happy." Frank said in a cruel tone.
"Frank, I miss him, and it's not my fault. Its yours." She said coldly.
Frank stared at her wide eyed and his mouth hanging open.
"You don't like the truth Frank, do you?" She asked.
"Mom, it is not my fault! Did you know he is, what Michaela is?" Frank asked.
Laura gave her soon a questioning look.
"He can't be." Laura said.
"He is! That is why he left. He is with Michaela and her Family, searching for his real family! Because of YOU! He is gone." Frank screamed at her.
Laura went to slap Frank, but he caught her hand. "Don't you ever do that again! Don't make me use my abilities, or whatever the hell they are!"
Laura took her hand away. "Frank, you had better know this. My powers are far greater than yours. You had better not test me!" She warned him.
"If Joe were here, I would go and join his side. I would be with him, and watch you suffer." Frank said angrily.
Laura was enraged. Frank went flying into one stair way post, and his head smashed into it. He slumped to the floor, and grabbed the back of his head.
Laura walked to her son. "Its time for you to take a nap." She said, and placed her hand on his forehead. He tried to shove her hand away, but he grew tired, and drifted into unconsciousness, and fell to the floor.
Laura smiled. "Night son." She said and walked out the door.
Frank remained on the floor, asleep and he had a dream, which to him looked terribly real. It showed Joe, Michaela, Jacob, and Vincent together, and it seemed like they were in trouble. It looked as if someone was chasing them.
Someone came up behind Vincent, and his eyes widened, and fell to the floor face down. Blood was forming on his back. Michaela ran over to him, she was going to try and heal him, but it was to late. The man advanced on her, but Jacob tackled the man to the ground. Joe went to Michaela and helped her up. She was in tears, and Joe held her tight. Jacob knocked the other man out. He checked his father, and saw that he was dead. He tried to bring him back, but had no luck. Jacob seemed to mumble something to himself, and then reached into his father's pockets, and grabbed something. What? Frank didn't know, he was to far away. Several others started chasing after Jacob, and the others. They started running away, and Joe ended up tripping and fell to the ground. Michaela was several feet ahead of him. When she turned around, the men had already grabbed Joe and they started beating and attacking him! Not a second later, they were all sent flying through the air, and crashed to the ground, stunned. Michaela ran to Joe, and helped him up. He had some cuts on his face, from where the others hit him. Blood was dripping down. Jacob yelled something to them. They all ran towards a jeep that was parked nearby and they all got inside.
Frank opened his eyes and gasped. Was that the present? Or future? I should be there with him! He shouldn't be doing this alone! Frank thought and rubbed his eyes with his fingers and slowly got up, and felt the bump on his head, which was sore.
Of course, it's my fault you left. I told you not to, then I got angry. I told you to leave! I wish I could take that all back! Frank thought to himself.
He remembered what his mother had done to him. I can't believe she did that to me! I am going to kill her! I will show her something when she gets back! He thought angrily.
Frank headed up to his bedroom, and sat in front of his computer. He turned it on, and went online. He went to go check his email. He had three new messages. He checked the first one. It was from Chet, just saying hi. Frank smiled, and went to the next message. It was from his online friend, Jake. Frank quickly read the message and replied.
Frank then sent that message and went to the next one. Frank stared at the screen in utter shock. It was from Joe! It read:
Hi Frank,
I know its been awhile, but I wanted to see how you were. I miss you a lot.
I know things ended on a rough note, but I have a feeling I will be coming to Bayport soon. Maybe sooner than you think.
Frank-I know we are supposed to be enemies, and I am not even supposed to be writing this, but I feel I must.
I don't care if we are enemies or not. We are brothers. Nothing will change that, unless you let it. From the way things ended, it looked like you were going to let it change. I don't want that, and hope you agree.
I don't know when I will be able to get back to you again, but I hope things are going good for you. I had a dream about you the other night. It was funny. Any ways, talk to you soon, and hope you have forgiven me.
Michaela says hi! As does Jacob. And get this, Jacob is to become the leader if something happens to their Father. Oh yeah, we think we have found my family! We are on our way to Maine, so we will be passing through. Maybe I will see you. Cool huh? And remember, no matter what, you are always my brother, and family.
Love your little Brother,
Joe
Frank smiled to himself. This is the first time his brother had contacted him. Frank was about to respond to the email, but there was some noise coming from the kitchen. Frank stood up startled, and slowly opened his door. He could not hear anything, but decided to go down stairs and check things out. He walked into the kitchen and saw that everything was fine. He took a deep breath. He walked over to the counter and opened a cabinet. He grabbed a bag of chocolate chip cookies, his favorites. He grabbed a glass and went to the fridge. He poured himself a glass of milk, for the cookies.
He put the milk back into the fridge and grabbed the glass and the bag of cookies. He shoved a cookie into his mouth, and ate it on his way up the stairs. He reached the top, and looked over at Joe's room. His door was ajar. Frank walked over to it and peered into the room. No one was there, so he closed the door, with a spare finger he had.
He walked over to his room, and he had closed the door on the way out. He tried to open the door, with his spare fingers, but couldn't. He bent down and placed the cookies and milk on the floor.
While he was down, his door opened up. His eyes widened. He was looking at the ground where his food and drink were, and looked at the bottom of his door, and watched as it opened. He stayed where he was, and looked at a pair of feet, wearing, some battered sneakers, and they looked like the same pair, Joe had worn when he left. Frank slowly peered up, and in front of him, was his brother, Joe!
Chapter 2
Frank just stared before him. His brother who he had not seen for six months was in front of him. Frank slowly backed away from him and stood up. Frank studied his brother's figure and then looked carefully at his face. Joe had some small cuts on it. Just like Frank had seen in his dream.
"Hi Frank," said Joe in a quiet tone, yet was quite nervous.
"Hi Joe," said Frank in the same tone.
"So..." Joe started.
"How have you been?" They both said to one another in unison.
Joe laughed, but Frank was serious.
"I have been okay, things could be better." He said, and placed his hands in his pockets. "What happened to you?" He said, pointing to the cuts on Joe's face then placed his hand back into his pocket.
"We ended up getting attacked a week or so ago. I fell and some people attacked me." Joe told him, and paused when he heard Frank gasp. "What?"
"Is Vincent okay?" Frank asked quickly.
Joe looked at the floor, and shook his head. "He didn't make it. He was stabbed in the back, or something and he was killed." Joe said, and then looked up and saw the shocked look on Franks face.
"I saw it Joe. I had one of those weird flashes earlier, and saw you, Michaela, Jacob and Vincent under attack." Frank told him, "Then, Vincent fell, and Jacob and Michaela tried to help them, but he was already..." He paused, and looked at Joe who was surprised. "Then you fell and the grabbed at you, and started beating on you, but I guess Michaela did something, and they were off of you, then you and the others left..."
"Please don't say any more..."Joe said quickly making Frank not continue. "I don't know if you saw any more of it, but it just gets worse from there on, till now." Joe said, with a shudder.
Frank nodded. "How are Michaela and Jacob? They dealing with everything okay?" Frank asked.
"Things are such a mess right now. That's why I am here Frank." Joe said, and stepped from Franks door where he had been standing, and accidentally spilt the glass of milk that was there. "Sorry." He said, and picked up the glass. He waved his hand over the milk and it all disappeared.
"Cool." Frank said. "What were you saying..."
Joe stood up once more, and his expression was serious.
"What's wrong? Is everything okay?" Frank asked.
Joe shook his head, and he sighed. "Nothing is fine. Everything is so screwed up right now." He said, and his eyes even started watering.
"Joe what's wrong?" Frank asked walking towards his brother.
"Michaela was kidnapped." Joe said, sadly. "That is why I need your help."
"What?!" He asked shocked.
"Your people took her, and I figured that you can help me get her back!" Joe said.
"You expect me to play a double agent or something, and be on both sides. I don't know if I can handle that. I don't even know where to begin..." Frank said quickly.
"Do you want to help me or not?" Joe asked.
For once Frank was unsure what to do. He and his brother have been through a lot in the past few years, handling cases, and now dealing with aliens. He and his brother had always helped one another and they never turned a case down.
"Well?" Joe asked snapping Frank out of his thoughts.
"I don't know." Frank mumbled.
"Frank, it will be like a case. Please, I will do anything if you help me! I can't do it alone, and only with Jacob. Sure we can get others to help, but you are my brother, and you can get in there and find out what's going on!" Joe said, with a large amount of desperation in his voice. "Please Frank..."
"Well, after what happened earlier, I would like to get back at them. Yeah I will help you!"
Joe flung his arms around his brother and hugged him tightly. "Thank you so much!!!" Joe said, and squeezed his brother even harder.
"I won't be able to if I can't breath Joe." Frank joked and Joe released him.
"What happened to you any ways? You said that something happened you wanted to get back at..." Joe said.
Frank sighed. "Mom used her powers on me and knocked me out. Her and I had a huge fight, then I really got her steamed up and she did that thing with the hand..." Frank said.
"What you did to me before I left?" Joe asked.
"Yeah. I can't believe she did it! To me of all people!" Frank said and was starting to get angry.
Joe screamed. "I can't believe her! She hurt you of all people! I would kill her!" Joe said, but Frank tried to calm him down.
"Joe don't worry, its okay." Frank said.
"Are you crazy!!!?" Joe yelled. "She should have never done that!"
"I made her angry, so I understand why she did, and it's my fault. Don't get all angry over it." Frank said.
"Just wait till I see her... She will wish she never laid a hand on you!"
"Stop it Joe!" Frank yelled at his brother, and he finally became silent.
Joe was about to say something, but he heard a knock on the front door. They both walked down stairs. Joe stood to the side, and Frank opened the door. It was Jacob.
"Hey Jacob. Joe you can come out, its Jacob." Frank said, and Jacob ran inside.
"We have to go now Joe!"
"Why?" Joe asked.
"I got a call from Jackson. He knows where Michaela is!" He said.
Joe turned to Frank. "You coming?"
"I am not sure about this you guys. The fact that I am not one of yours may tick them off." Frank said and then thought for a few seconds. "Wait a sec! Why should I help you? I mean, you left me, and now you come back out of nowhere expecting me to help!" Frank exclaimed, and Joe looked at him surprised.
"You left, not wanting to stay here with me, now you want me to help you. I can't believe this." Frank mumbled and walked into the living room, and sat on the sofa, leaving Joe and Jacob alone in the hall, both with shocked expressions.
Joe stormed out of the hall and over to his brother. "What is wrong with you?!" Joe yelled at Frank.
"You Joe! My life has been a living hell while you were gone, and now you just pop on home expecting me to help you, when you left me!" He yelled back. "Our family has been a wreck! Dad has been searching for you non-stop, since the day you left. Mom, well she didn't know you were one of them till I told her this morning. We both got into an argument, where I actually stuck up for you, saying that I would go with you guys if you were here, but.... Now I don't want to have anything to do with you." Frank said, and looked away from his brother.
Joe knelt down in front of Frank. "Frank, the reason I left, is because I thought it would be best, and safer if I did leave. I told you I would be back, and here I am."
Frank still didn't look at his brother. In his heart he was so glad to see his brother safe, but in his mind, he was angry at him.
Joe sighed and walked over to Jacob. "I give up." He said, flinging his hands in the air, and walked out the front door, leaving Jacob and Frank in the house. Jacob walked over to Frank, and thought he would try to persuade him to help. He sat beside Frank on the couch, and Frank looked at him.
"You know Frank, when we were gone, you were all Joe talked about. He missed you so much. And when he found out we were coming here. He was so happy.
You want to know why he was happy." Jacob said softly. "Because he was going to see you." He stood up and walked towards the front door. He turned back and gave a final look at Frank. "He needs you Frank. And I am sure you need him to. And Frank, if you join us, no one would ever hurt you, and you would be safe. Its up to you." Jacob said, and slowly opened the front door, and Joe came bursting in the room.
"They are home!" He yelled.
Frank stood up. "Who is?"
"Mom, and Dad. Who else would it be?!" He exclaimed. He turned to Jacob. "We have to get out of here!"
"Wait, you can't leave now..." Frank started.
"You were the one who wanted me to leave! You don't want to help Frank, so we are leaving!" Joe yelled back and headed towards the kitchen, hoping to go out the back door.
"Knock it off you two!!!" Jacob yelled just as the front door burst open and in came Fenton Hardy, who ran into the living room.
"What is going on in here?!" He demanded looking at Jacob and Frank. "Who are you?" Fenton asked calming down.
Joe stood in the kitchen doorway, out of his father's sight behind him. Frank just stared at Joe. When no one said anything, Fenton noticed where Frank was staring and he turned around. Fenton stood shocked at the sight of his son, who had left them, and was now back. He had not expected this, and didn't know what to say. Before he had the chance to even speak, Joe ran to the kitchen and out the back door.
"Joe!" Fenton yelled after him. He ran out the back door, followed by Frank and Jacob. Both stopped at the doorway when they saw Joe standing outside in his Father's arms.
Before he had left he had found out he was adopted, but he didn't care. He made a vow to find his real family, but in his heart, his father and brother were his family. Frank walked out the back door, and he could see Joe's face was wet with tears. Frank automatically felt sorry for the way he treated his brother, and went over to them both. He could hear his father saying how much he missed Joe, and that he should never of left. Joe never said a word, he just hugged his father.
Joe finally spoke up, and it was the last thing any of them wanted to hear. "I have to go again." He said as calmly as possible.
Fenton released his son. "Excuse me? You are not going anywhere Joe! You are staying right here where you belong!" Fenton said, and started dragging Joe back to the house.
"Dad, stop for a sec!" Frank yelled and ran to them.
Both stopped in their tracks and Frank pulled Joe aside, and whispered something to him. Something his Father didn't hear.
When they pulled away, Fenton grabbed Joe's arm and started bringing him to the house.
"Dad, let me go! I have to leave!" He exclaimed.
"No Joe, you are my son! You are staying right here!" His father yelled.
Joe pulled hard and fell from his fathers grip to the ground, and Fenton went to help him up, but couldn't. Right before his Father could even touch him a invisible force kept Joe safe. It was like an invisible wall, keeping Fenton away from Joe. Joe stood up, and looked at his father through the wall. I am sorry Dad, but I need to go. Joe turned around, and saw his brother holding out his arm. Joe didn't know how or where Frank got the power to do that, but he was thankful. He went to Frank.
"I will see you tomorrow at eight o'clock, at the end of the street." Joe whispered, and he took off running out of the yard. He could hear his father calling for him, but he kept going. Jacob ran with him, and they both left.
Later that night Frank wandered around the house. His father had questioned him about what happened but Frank denied everything, and said nothing. He walked out the back door, and into the back yard. It was a clear night sky, and he stared up at the constellations.
The night was so peaceful, that he was lost in his own world, thinking about his brother and what was going to happen tomorrow that he didn't hear anyone approach him from behind, and when he did, it was to late! He was smashed on the back of the head, sending him into a dark pit, which overtook him, as the man dragged Frank away.
Chapter 3
Frank awoke the next morning laying in his bed. When he opened his eyes, he saw that it was 10:25am. He sat up and rubbed his head, which was sore from last night? What the hell happened? he thought to himself.
He quickly got up and went to his door and locked it, and then ran to the adjoining bathroom him and Joe shared and locked Joe’s entrance door, so no one could enter.
He decided to remain in his room until nightfall when he would meet Joe at the end of his street to make a plan to stop the war between their races. Hopefully an answer would be found!
*Two in the Afternoon*
Joe and Jacob sat inside their car waiting for one of their enemies to leave a building that they were told Michaela may be in. Kenny, one of Jacobs friends, said he saw Stephan and someone known as Mike, bring Michaela inside this building they were watching, and once Jacob and Joe were notified, they said they would check it out, and try to get her back.
“This is taking forever! We have been here for a couple of hours at least!” Jacob said impatiently. “When’s this guy going to leave? He’s supposed to be the only one here right?” Jacob asked Joe, who had been on the phone with the boss of the nearest facility.
“Yes, that is what I was told! Jeff our boss said someone was scouting the place and only one person remains. If she is here, they probably have her tied up or something, and I hope nothing bad has happened! We will wait a half an hour more, and if he doesn’t come out, we will go in. Okay?” Joe said, and looked over at Jacob.
“Okay, but he better leave, or I will have some fun kicking his...” He started to say, but Joe interrupted. “Look, he’s leaving, I think..” Joe watched as the man walked down the street and got into a white van, and he took off down the road.
“Okay, let’s try and get inside! We need to be fast, because I am sure they won’t leave her here alone for long!” Joe said, and they darted across the street and tried the door, and it was locked. Joe quickly pulled something from his pocket and stuck it inside the locked, and he opened the door.
“That was fast!” Jacob said, and they both went inside. The hallway was dark, but down it they could see a few remaining lights on. Joe took a mini flashlight from his pocket and put it on. He found a couple doors on each side. They looked inside each one, and two were empty, one had several storage boxes, and the other had an examination table, which made Joe’s heart drop to the floor. He heard Jacob gasp, which meant they were thinking the same thing. Had they experimented on her?
They got to a room at the end of the hall way and when they tried the door it was locked. Joe looked at Jacob and they knew it was their last chance and this door was their last hope to finding her.
Joe took out his lock pick and once he unlocked the door he slowly opened it and inside the room it was extremely dark, but they could see a figure huddled up against the left corner of the room. The figure didn’t move, which worried them both. Joe shone his flashlight to reveal Michaela’s body, laying against the wall, her body not facing them. “Jacob, find a light.” Joe said, and went over to where Michaela lay. Jacob put an overhead light on, and Joe went to Michaela’s side, and turned her to face him. When he turned her, her face was all scratched up, and her lip was bleeding. Joe felt her lip, and the blood had hardened, but he figured it must have been recent.
“Michaela? Michaela, please wake up, “ Joe whispered, and she didn’t respond right away. Joe held her in his arms for a brief moment, and then carefully lifted her weak and batted body into his arms, and Both Joe and Jacob went back the their car. They quickly pulled out with Jacob at the wheel. Joe got in back with Michaela, an her head rested on his lap. She still made no movement. In the mirror Jacob watched as Joe ran his fingers through Michaela's hair, and he starred at her with a sad _expression.
“Do you love her Joe?” Jacob asked because he saw the caring look in Joe’s eyes, that only a person has when they care deeply for a person.
“What? Why do you ask?” Joe asked surprised.
“Because I am pretty sure I can tell you are, well are you?” Jacob asked again.
Joe grinned. “I don’t know, I mean care about her, a lot that is, but I don’t know how she feels about me. And things are so crazy right now, I don’t know if.....” Joe said, and stopped.
“What is it?” Jacob asked as he turned into a parking lot.
“Nothing, I am going to try to heal her.” Joe said, and as he tried healing her, he noticed her head move and he stopped. “That’s weird, I tried to heal her and it didn’t work. Her head moved to the side, but that was it.” Joe reported.
“Shoot!, If you can’t heal her Joe, no one can, not us anyways. We need one of them to heal her. What they must have done, is used their powers to hurt her, which means, we can’t heal her. We need to get her help, because if I think I know what they did, she will only get worse. She will only get weaker and weaker until she can’t move or walk Joe. Someone has to heal her and soon! Or else she won’t make it Joe!” Jacob said in fear of his sister’s life.
A lump formed in Joe’s throat. Who could help? “Frank!”
Chapter 4
It was nightfall, and Jacob and Joe sat inside their car, Jacobs head turned looking at Michaela who still hadn’t awoke.
“What do you think happened to her? She looks pretty bad, and if we can’t do anything, then we’re in trouble.” Joe whispered as he stroked Michaela’s soft curly hair.
“I don’t know Joe, but if we can’t heal her, and Frank can’t she doesn’t have a good chance. Maybe she does, but.. Oh, I don’t know Joe, this is all so confusing. It’s been a hectic six months, I can tell you that though.” Jacob said and turned and looked back down the street for any signs of Frank making his way down the road.
“Jacob, you know that question you asked me earlier, about loving her? Well, to tell you the truth I am afraid to love someone. After what’s happened, losing my family, and losing Vincent, seeing him get killed, it’s scary. What we are, what they are, and, I just don’t want to put my heart on the line, along with hers or anyone else's.” Joe said, and Jacob was still surprised.
“Joe, I understand what you are saying, but if you care for someone, enjoy it, go for it. I mean, take this chance and do something! You may be around for a day, or maybe fifty years, you never know. If we win this, were good! Maybe if we don’t win, we can hide out. A lot of our people are hiding out and living a good life, so don’t waste your time you’ve got Joe.” Jacob said, and Joe didn’t look up. Joe knew in a way he was right, but he didn’t want to hurt anyone, or lose anyone else he cared for.
“I think Frank’s coming, yeah that’s him.” Jacob said and he turned the car back on, and Frank sprinted to the car and got into the front seat with Jacob, and Jacob took off, down the road.
Frank put his seat belt on, and turned around and saw Joe hold Michael. “What happened Joe?” Frank asked in concern.
“We don’t know Frank. We’re hoping you can help her, in some way, because we can’t. Someone did something to her and neither of us, we I can’t heal her. We were hoping you could possibly try to. If you can’t then, she’s gonna be in bad condition for a while, and it may just get worse.” Joe said sadly. “Can you help us Frank?” Joe asked looking up and Frank. “Please?”
Frank felt awful for Joe, and the trouble they had been through lately, and wanted to help, but wasn’t sure how to. “Actually Joe, I have something here you may want to see. Mom and Dad went out tonight, and I snuck into their room, and found some things hidden under the bed. I think they may have to do with Michaela and what happened to her. This here is a video cassette that has Michaela experiment written on the side. This is a bottle of some type of fluid, it said heal on the side of it. And the other stuff was extra things, but i figured those were most important. Try the healing fluid on Michaela, maybe it’ll work. “Frank suggested.
Joe took the bottle from him wondering if what he help would help heal Michaela's wounds. He decided to take the chance, and he opened the bottle, and stuck his finger inside, and got some of the fluid on his hands, and it felt somewhat thick, and it was a clear color. “Well, here it goes, I hope this works.” He placed his fingers on one of Michaela’s cuts on her cheek, and soon enough the cut soon healed up before their eyes. “Hey, can we get to a hotel or stay somewhere tonight? I want to get her all set before we do anything else.” Joe asked Jacob and Frank.
“No problem here, I left a note for dad saying I went to a friends house.” rank said, but he knew his Mother wouldn’t fall for that one.
“Okay then, let’s go to the holiday inn, isn't it up near the mall? Jacob asked.
“Yeah it is.” Joe answered and Michaela started to move a little on his lap, and Joe steadied her. “Michaela?” He asked and rubbed her head, and she slowly lifted it, and she looked very confused as to where she was. She put her head back on Joe’s lap and closed her eyes once again. “Michaela, wake up, come on, your safe with us...”
“No Joe, I am not.” She whispered and Frank turned around and looked down at her, and he saw a sad look on her face, and tears sliding down her cheeks.
“Why, What happened Michaela?” Joe asked in concern, and Michaela sat up slowly beside him.
“They took my powers away from me Joe, I don’t have them any more! They‘re gone, and I don‘t know how to get them back!”
