Chapter 11
"Your last name is Hart?" Michaela asked the man in front of her.
He smiled. "Yes it is." He nodded.
"Her last name is Hart to." Joe said to him.
"Really?" Jacob asked.
"Yeah. Michaela Hart." She said.
"That's odd. What are you doing here?" Jacob asked her.
"Well, we came here to get some information." Michaela said. "How long have you been here?" She blurted out.
He was surprised by the question. "I have been here all my life." He answered.
"How old are you? When's your birthday?" Michaela asked.
"I am eighteen, and my birthday is October second. Why, what's going on?" He asked giving everyone a confused look, and only received one back from Michaela.
"That's my birthday. And I am eighteen." She whispered in deep thought.
"This is really strange." Jacob mumbled.
"You got that right." Joe said.
Michaela turned to Joe. "Should I ask him about...you know?"
Joe nodded. "Yeah go ahead." He whispered.
She turned back to Jacob. "This may sound rather strange, but do you have any powers? To do things?" She asked.
Jacob's eyes widened. "How do you know about that." He asked her.
"Well...." She started. "I have powers to." She said.
He gave her a puzzled look. "I have to go." He said, and turned to leave.
"Wait! Please." Michaela yelled after him, and grabbed his arm. When she did she had a flash before her eyes. She saw two babies, after just being born, being taken away from the mother, which appeared to be dead. The mother had Light brown curly hair, which was soaked. Several men were in the room, and there was a boy and a girl. Some of the men crowded around the girl, and then they left with her, leaving the others with the baby boy.
Michaela took her hand off of Jacobs, arm. Jacob turned and stared at her. "What the hell did you just do?" He asked, and appeared to be shaken by the event.
"I don't know. Was that you?" She asked him. "Were you the baby boy?"
He nodded. "Yes. I have seen that all my life, in my dreams. Every time, it makes me want to fall to pieces over it." He said and wiped his eyes.
"Was that me to?" She asked.
He shook his head. "I really don't know. I can't take this right now, I am sorry." He said, and turned away from her, and started back down the hall way.
"Jacob, stop!" She yelled and she ran after him again. He turned around and aced her. "Please leave me alone." He said, and she stopped in her tracks. Michaela was pushed against the wall behind her, by an invisible force and slumped to the floor. She had the wind knocked out of her.
Joe came running beside her, and kneeled down. "You okay?" He asked.
Michaela nodded. She turned her head towards Jacob. He slowly walked over to them.
"I am so sorry. I can't control my powers yet. I didn't mean to." He whispered and took his hand and placed it on her cheek, and gently pushed her curls from her face.
She gave him a small smile. "So..." She whispered.
"I am your brother." he whispered looking into her hazel eyes.
She nodded. Joe stared at her. "Well, this must be a surprise. You have a family." He whispered.
Frank stood behind the others. He walked behind Joe, and grabbed his arm. Joe turned around. Frank bent down. "Let's let them have a moment alone together." Frank whispered.
Joe nodded and stood up. He and Frank backed away from Jacob and Michaela as they both spoke to one another.
"That's so amazing." Frank said.
"What's that Frank?" Joe asked.
"Well, one day, she didn't even know that she had a family, and today, she meets her brother for the first time." He said looking at Michaela's cheerful face as her and Jacob kept talking.
"That's what you mean to me Joe. You mean the world to me, and if you left, it would tear my world apart." Frank said, hoping the message would get through.
Joe's heart wanted to break. He knew his brother was upset by the past issues that had occurred. He turned and faced Frank. "Frank, I understand how you feel. You mean a lot to me to. I mean we are brothers. Nothing can ever change that. Even if I am adopted, or what ever. Nothing can come between us. Do you understand?"
Frank looked down at the ground. He gave a slight nod. "Does that mean, you will always be here?" Frank asked quietly.
"I can't answer that Frank. I have already told you that. Please don't make this any harder." Joe said, and felt a lump forming in his throat.
Frank felt the same way as Joe did. The situation, was changing the both of them, and they both seemed to be drifting apart.
"I am going to say something here and now, and I don't want you to ever forget it Frank." Joe stated.
Frank nodded. "What?"
Joe took a deep breath. "I want you to know, no matter what the outcome of this will be. I want you to know, no matter what happens. I am always going to be around, and I will always care for you. I love you bro." Joe said, and felt tears slipping down his cheeks.
Frank looked up and saw his brother's face. His heart felt like it was tied in a knot. Frank grabbed Joe and held him close. "I love you too." Frank said, and Joe started crying, and he rested his head on Frank's shoulder.
Both Michaela and Jacob watched, the two brothers embrace. Michaela smiled as she watched the two. She suddenly felt a pair of arms around her, and she turned and Jacob was hugging her. She hugged him back.
"This is really cool." She whispered.
"Yeah it is." Jacob whispered.
She released Jacob, and he did the same. "I have always wondered why you have been roaming around this place." She said.
"Same reason as you I guess." He said and was about to continue, but paused when he heard a noise. He jumped up, pulling Michaela with him, and ran over to the Hardy's. "Come on. Someone is coming." He whispered and the Hardy's followed him. Jacob opened a door and the Hardy's and Michaela, went inside with him. He closed the door behind him.
"Shhh..." He whispered.
The footsteps stopped a few feet away from the door.
"This is Jacob's football. He must be near by. I said on his file, that he never went anywhere without it, so something is up." Someone said.
"Yeah, he never leaves it behind." Someone else said and the footsteps continued.
"Shoot! I have to go out there. They are searching for me. They won't stop till they fine me." He whispered quietly.
"No, please stay here." Michaela begged him.
"I got to go. Don't worry, we will see each other soon. I know it." He said, and gave Michaela a kiss on the cheek, and opened the door, and went outside it.
"I am right here!" Jacob yelled, and the people turned around. "There you are. We have been looking for you." One of them said, and both started walking towards Jacob.
"Who are you guys? You have never been here before." Jacob said.
"We are new here. We need you to come with us Jacob." The older man, with dark brown hair said.
"What if I don't want to." Jacob asked.
"Well I am afraid that you don't have a choice." The other one said advancing on Jacob.
Jacob, had an odd feeling. Michaela, I hope you know this, He thought. "Ignesio Outio!" Jacob yelled in Qsiola.
Inside the room, Joe gave Michaela a troubled look, and got one back from her. "He's in danger." He whispered. "I am going to help him." Joe said, and had his hand on the door knob. Frank grabbed it.
"You can't Joe." Frank said.
"I have to." Joe said, and opened the door quietly, and sneaked out. He came out behind the two men who were advancing on Jacob. Michaela came out after Joe, and went with him.
Jacob looked up and saw them come out.
Suddenly Jacob shot through the air, and went crashing into a door, causing it to crack. Jacob slumped down, unconscious.
Michaela screamed as she saw her brother fall. The men turned around, and saw her there. "We have another one." The older man said.
Michaela ran at them and she smashed into one of them, and they both went sprawling on the floor. Michaela quickly got up, and before the man could she kicked him in the stomach, and he gasped in pain.
The other man however, took this advantage and came up behind her, and placed his hand on her forehead, and held her tight. She struggled as much as she could, but as she did, she grew weaker, and tired. After a few more seconds of being held, she slipped into unconsciousness in the mans arms. He carefully lifted her up over his shoulder.
"Michaela!" Joe yelled as she fell. He started after the man, but was flung through the air and fell to the floor unconscious.
Frank came running out of the room, and saw the others in trouble. He looked up and saw the two men staring at him. The one who had gotten up of the floor, turned to his partner who was holding Michaela. "He is one of us, isn't he?"
The other man nodded. "Lets go. We can come back later for the others. She is enough. For now." He said, and they both turned to leave.
Frank ran to his unconscious brother and shook his shoulder. After a few minutes Joe started to stir. He blinked and looked around. He sat up quickly.
"Michaela! Where is she?" Joe asked concerned.
"They took her Joe. She's gone!"
Chapter 12
"No, she can't be gone. Where did they take her? We need to find her!" Joe said and jumped up. He winced.
"What's wrong?" Frank asked him.
"My back hurts. I don't care though. We need to go after her." He said and looked and saw Jacob laying on the floor close by. He walked over and knelt by him. He shook Jacobs arm.
"Jacob! Come on." Joe said, and Frank walked up behind him. Jacob stirred and groaned. He opened his eyes and saw Frank and Joe staring at him. "Where is Michaela?" He asked and slowly rose to his feet followed by Joe.
"Those jerks took her. I swear if I find them. They are dead!" Joe said, growing angry. "What way did they take her?" Joe asked Frank.
Frank pointed down the hallway, and Joe took off running in that direction, and Jacob and Frank followed.
Joe came to a stop in the hallway, where it split into four sections. One across from them, and two one either side, and the way they had come.
Frank and Jacob came to a halt behind him.
Joe turned around and faced them. "Okay, before we go any further, these guys also have some kind of power. One of them did something to Michaela causing her to, pass out or something. That's how they took her." Joe informed them.
"So, are we going to split up or something?" Frank asked.
Joe nodded. "I say that's the best idea, although they have stronger abilities than either of us. So, I am worried if we split up, we may be putting ourselves in great danger by splitting up."
"I agree. So what's the plan now?" Jacob asked worriedly.
"I will go alone, you two go together." Frank said quickly.
"What!? Now way Frank." Joe started but Frank interrupted.
"Joe, I am going alone! Don't talk me out of it. One of them said something, and I just want to go on my own." Frank said.
"What did they say?" Joe asked.
"It doesn't matter. What matters, is that you two can go and handle yourselves. I am going alone." Frank said and started down one of the halls, but Joe came up and ran after Frank. He grabbed Frank's arm and twisted him around to face him.
"Let me go!" Frank yelled.
"No Frank. I don't want you getting hurt. You are staying with us." Joe said.
Frank was about to respond, but instead, pulled Joe over to him, and placed his hand on Joe's forehead.
"What the hell are you..." Joe started, but he felt dizziness fall over him. "Frank you can't do this to me. Frank stop... please stop." Joe tried to shove Frank off, instead they both sank to their knees, Frank was still holding onto Joe.
"Joe I am so sorry." Frank whispered, as Joe slipped out of his arms and fell to the floor unconscious.
Frank looked up and saw Jacob looking at him with terrified eyes.
"He will be fine." Frank said, and ran back down the hall.
Jacob ran to where Joe lay, and knelt beside him. "Joe wake up!" He yelled giving Joe a shove, but he remained still.
What did he do to him?
Frank continued running down the hallway and came to a stop. He turned around, thinking he should go back to his brother. I can't believe I just did that! Joe I am so sorry, but some things you are meant to do on your own. Frank thought and continued down the hall.
He neared a lab, and poked his head inside. There Michaela lay on a table they had inside, and beside her were dissecting tools.
She was unconscious at the moment. He was about to enter, but didn't when he saw one of the men he had seen earlier, come inside the room, from another door.
"Who are you?!" Someone asked from behind.
Frank whipped around, and saw the other man, from before starring at him.
"You are one of those guys from earlier? Aren't you?" The man asked advancing on Frank. The man had jet black hair, which was greased back, and had green eyes.
Frank nodded in response to the question.
"Who do we have?" The other man asked coming out of the doorway. He noticed Frank. "Oh, its you. Are you Laura's son?" He asked.
Frank was confused. "How do you know?"
"She is one of us. She informed us that you had disappeared. Now we have found you. What's your name?" He asked.
"Frank."
"Well Frank, its good to finally meet you. Come on in here, and you may watch us experiment on this fine young specimen." The other man said, and they both led Frank into the room. "Sit there." The man directed.
"I would rather stand if that's okay." Frank said.
"Sure it is." The dark haired of the two said.
"What are you going to do to her?" Frank asked.
"Well, we are waiting until she awakens, which will be any moment soon. We are going to see what her capabilities are, and then we kill her." The other man said.
"Why are you going to kill her?"
"She is our enemy Frank, as are those other two, young men that were out there. Why were you with them?" The dark haired man asked, standing beside Michaela.
Frank didn't know how to answer. "Well, they were my Friends." He said.
"They are no longer your friends Frank. They are your enemy, and always will be." The man with the dark hair said.
"What are your names?" Frank asked, not wanting to think of the fact the he and his brother were enemies.
"Mine is John, and my friend here is Stephan." The dark haired man said.
"Well John, mind telling me why we are their enemies?" Frank asked fearing the answer.
"Well, our people came here to start a new life on earth Frank. Our people were dying, and needed a change. We came here to earth. But when our leaded saw the chance, that we could stay here for ever, they came!" Stephan said pointing to Michaela. "She isn't exactly our enemy, but is the daughter of one. Her father, along with several of their type, came here to earth to stop us. We were at peace with one another but a war broke out. The reason we have her is to find out what they are capable of, and then we may overcome their powers and defeat them." He continued.
"But kill her? You can study her, and then release her can't you?" Frank asked, not wanting to believe any of this.
"We have to eliminate their species!" John spoke up.
"That means killing Joe and Jacob?" He asked.
"Well we know Jacob, was Joe that other blond one?" Stephan asked.
"Yeah, and let em tell you something, Joe has been my brother for all my life, and now he has to be killed. I can't stand by and watch this happen." Frank said.
"Well, you are going to have to. Didn't you use your abilities on him just a short while ago?" John asked him.
Frank looked away from him. "Yeah I did, but.."
"But nothing. You knew what was coming, and you know what will happen. He and his race need to go, for our survival!" Stephan yelled.
"Why did you use your ability on him Frank?" John asked.
"So I could come here alone. So he would be safe with Jacob." Frank mumbled.
"So he could be safe... Well, did you know that, using that ability you used, could have killed him."
Frank jumped out of his seat. "What?!" Frank turned around and headed for the door, but it slammed shut.
"I don't think so. Sit down." Stephan said.
Frank turned around, and sat back down. "What do you mean it could have killed him?" Frank asked.
"Well, depending on how you use your power and how you focus it, you can kill a person." John said.
"Did I?" Frank asked.
"No you didn't. What you did, just knocked him out." John told him.
"How do you know?" Frank asked John.
"I saw what you did Frank. And I saw your hurt expression after you did it. I know he means a lot to you, but you have to face the facts. He is no longer your family. He is against you Frank." John said as softly as possible.
Frank just shook his head. "No, he can't be." He mumbled. He wanted to break down crying, but he knew if he did, that they would find him to be weak. He didn't want that to happen. He took a deep breath.
"You know what, after we have this little one here, show us her skills. I say we have Frank, have the honors of killing her." Stephan said.
Frank's eyes went wide with horror. "No! I can't do that!" He yelled. "I will never kill anyone." He said to them.
"Frank, there is no easy way to say this, but the only way we can survive here, is if our enemies are gone." John said.
"I can't..." Frank started.
"You have to! That is an order!" Stephan yelled.
"Are you the leader or something? You are not going to tell me what to do!" Frank yelled at him.
"I may not be the leader but I am his son, and as his son, I demand that you kill her!" He yelled back, getting right in front of Frank.
"Or what? You'll kill me to?" Frank challenged.
"Don't test me little boy." He yelled back.
"Knock it off you two! Frank you have to. He is in charge. His Father has told us all that. You have to." John said.
"No! I am not going to kill her!" He yelled at the both of them.
"Then I'll kill you." Stephan said, and grabbed Frank around the neck, and before he could move, Stephan placed his hand on Frank's forehead, and Frank started screaming. This is the end! Joe, I hope you can make it out of here buddy! I am sorry I did that to you, but I hope you understand that I did it out of love! Frank thought as he continued screaming in agony. The pressure and pain seemed to decrease as he slipped out of reality.
Chapter 13
Joe slowly opened his eyes and looked around. He was laying on the floor of a hallway. He suddenly remembered what Frank had done to him, and jumped up. He winced.
"Joe! You're okay!" Jacob yelled and gave him a hug.
Joe winced again.
"You okay? Something hurting you?" Jacob asked his friend.
"My back again." Joe said and tried to stretch.
"Turn around." Jacob instructed. Joe did as he was told and he turned around.
Jacob lifted the back of Joe's shirt up, and noticed a bruise forming. "Very nice." He mumbled. He waved his hand over Joe's back and the bruise disappeared. "That better?" He asked.
Joe stretched his back. "Thank you so much. Now I can go kick Frank's..."
"Joe! Maybe he had a reason for doing what he did! I mean, he is your brother right? Do you ever think he would try and harm you in any way?" Jacob asked.
Joe groaned. "I guess your right, but is he an idiot? Going off on his own! I just don't want to see anything bad happened to him." Joe said, and his voice broke.
"Joe its okay..." Jacob started, but stopped when a terrifying scream came from down the hall.
"That's Frank!" Joe yelled and took off after the scream.
He continued screaming. Joe had to cover his ears, because the screaming was ripping Joe's heart apart. Somewhere his brother was in complete pain, and he could have prevented it, if he were there.
Jacob was running after Joe.
The screaming came to a stop, and Joe took his hands away from his ears. Please be alright! That's all I ask! Joe thought as he kept running. He stopped in front of a door, which he believed the screaming was coming from. He tried to open it, but it was locked.
Jacob came up behind him. "Locked?" He asked out of breath.
"Yeah, can you open it?" Joe asked him.
"You bet ya!" Jacob said and backed away from the door.
"Joe, you may want to move." Jacob said.
Joe back up near Jacob, and Joe watched Jacob as he kept his eyes on the door. The door just flung open and smashed into the wall.
Joe ran inside the room and saw two very shocked faces, but the one he wanted to see, was in the arms, unconscious, of one of them.
"What the hell did you do to him?" He screamed at him.
Jacob came running into the room as well. He saw his sister laying on top of a table the had out.
"Stay right where you are or your friend here dies!" Stephan yelled at them.
"He is my brother! Release him!" Joe yelled.
"No way! He is one of us, and belongs here. You don't!"
"Then why are you going to kill him?" Joe asked,
"Because he won't kill her!" Stephan asked pointing to Michaela. "And it doesn't matter now, because he is dead! And you will soon be to!"
"I don't think so!" Someone said.
John and Stephan turned around but not in time. Michaela had woken up and she injected them with two needles, that lay beside her.
"Nighty night." She whispered, and soon enough both John and Stephan fell to the floor, into a deep sleep.
Jacob couldn't help but laugh at them. "Way to go sis!" He said, and helped her off the table.
"Thanks." She said, and turned to Joe.
He had run beside he brother and knelt beside him. "Frank? Frank can you hear me?" Joe whispered.
He was stroking Frank's hair, waiting for him to open his eyes.
Jacob knelt across from Joe, and checked for a pulse. He couldn't find one. Jacob looked at Michaela who was seated beside her, and she knew he was gone. "Frank's gone Joe." She whispered.
Joe shook his head. "He can't be... He can't..." Joe said, and picked Franks head up, and held him close. Joe trembled as he held his brother.
"Joe, let me see him." Jacob said softly.
Joe placed Frank on the floor, and backed away from him.
"I am so sorry Joe." Michaela whispered, and held him, as he cried.
Through tear filled eyes, Joe watched Jacob as he placed his hands over Frank. A glow moved from Jacob's hands and to Frank's body.
Frank's body seemed to glow bright and the brightness dimmed down. Jacob took his hands away from Frank. He took a deep breath, and looked at Joe and smiled.
Michaela released Joe, and he moved back to where Frank lay.
Frank's fingers started moving, and Joe grabbed them.
"Frank!!!" Joe yelled. "Come on buddy." Joe whispered.
Frank's eyes slowly opened and he looked around, and saw three concerned faces looking at him.
"FRANK!" Joe screamed and held his brother.
Joe looked at Jacob. "Thank you so much." He whispered.
Jacob nodded and went over to Michaela. She was in shock, staring at the two.
"How did you do that?" She asked him.
"That's one of my powers. My dad showed them to me." Jacob told her.
"Dad?! Where is he?" She asked.
"Oh my... They don't know he's here. Come on, I will bring you to him." Jacob said and stood up, and held out his hand and helped her up.
"I am going to meet our father?!" She asked.
"If you want to. I am not going to force you. I just recently met him. You want to?" He asked her.
"Yeah!" She said. "But first, we tie these two up." She said pointing to John and Stephan.
"Good call sis." Jacob said, and walked back to a closet in the back of the room, and searched for something. "The only thing is duct tape." He yelled to her.
"That should be fine." She said, and he came back carrying the tape.
He went to John, and tied up his hands and feet, and put a piece over his mouth.
Next he went over to Stephan. He started to tare a piece, but was shoved to the floor laying on his back. On top of him was Stephan. Stephan placed his hand onto Jacob's forehead and he started to scream. Michaela tried to shove Stephan off of Jacob, but was only shoved to the floor.
Frank looked from where he sat, and saw Stephan attacking Jacob. Frank jumped up, and tackled Stephan to the floor. He gave Stephan a solid punch in his jaw, which knocked him out.
"Jacob!" Michaela yelled getting up. She leaned over him.
He had tears streaming down his cheeks. She gave him a hug, and he held her.
"Its okay, your safe." Michaela softly told him.
"I will tie that one up." Joe said, and grabbed the duct tape, and tied up Stephan's hands and feet.
"You okay?" Frank asked coming over to Jacob, who still lay on the floor on his back. "Yeah, I am okay." Jacob murmured.
Frank knelt beside him. "Thank you for saving my life." Frank said to him.
"No prob. Did he do that to you?" Jacob asked Frank sitting upwards.
"I think so." Frank said.
"I am going to kill him, the next time I see him." Jacob vowed.
"Jacob, don't say things like that." Michaela said.
"I will, if I have to." He said.
"Jacob, Where are you?!" A voice said.
They all looked around, and saw no one.
"Who was that?" Joe asked as he finished up tying Stephan.
"That's him. Dad?! Where are you?" Jacob yelled.
"On the intercom son. What room are you in?"
Jacob walked out of the room, and saw the number seven on the top of the door.
"Seven Dad! We are in room seven!" He yelled.
"We?! Who's we?"
"Me and my friends. Also, there are two others who are knocked out! They attacked us. Dad where are you? What room?!" Jacob yelled.
"Don't worry! I am coming, stay where you are!"
"Okay, hurry up Dad!"
The room went silent.
"I hate when he does that. He'll try and find me on the intercom. He doesn't do it often, but it bugs the hell out of me." Jacob said, and turned to Michaela.
"Looks like you'll get to meet him." Jacob said.
"Who exactly are we meeting?" Joe asked.
"Our father." Jacob said, wrapping an arm around Michaela's shoulders. "And our leader."
"Leader? He's the one in charge. I have to go then." Frank said.
"What?! Why?" Joe asked him.
"Well, I am not one of you guys after all. I am one of them." Frank said pointing to John and Stephan. "They told me, that our species, or whatever, and yours are enemies." Frank said.
Joe had a confused look on his face. "What are you talking about?"
Frank was about to answer, but didn't when he heard footsteps coming down the hall. Frank went and hid behind the counter.
A man came running into the room. He spotted Jacob, and went over and gave him a huge hug. "I am so glad your safe son. I found some of my colleagues unconscious, some injured and some dead. That worried me. I am so glad your safe." The man said and held his son.
Michaela watched the two. The man had brown hair, and was somewhere around six feet tall.
"I am glad to see you to Dad." Jacob said, and thy both released each other.
"Dad, I would like you to meet, Joe Hardy, he is a friend of mine." Jacob said pointing to Joe.
"Its a pleasure to meet you Joe." He said deep in thought. "My name is Vincent. I knew your Father. Where's your sister?" He asked Joe.
Joe gave him a stunned look. "I have a sister?" He asked.
"Yes you do. You don't know her?" Vincent asked.
"I am afraid I don't sir. You know my Dad?" Joe asked.
"Correction, I knew him. I have not seen him in nearly twenty years. That will be a challenge, finding them." He said, in deep thought.
"What about my mother?" Joe asked.
"She died when you were born. Her name was Katlynne Harrison. Very nice young woman. Your father's name is Richard Harrison." Vincent informed him.
"Wow... Well this is a surprise." Joe said.
"It is, finally getting to meet you Joe. Well, I hope you will join us. I would love to have you here. We can find your father and sister as well."
"I would love that." Joe said.
"Um... Dad?" Jacob asked coming up behind him.
"Yeah son?" He asked turning to him.
"There's someone else I think you should meet." Jacob said, and stepped aside, and Michaela stepped forward.
"This is my sister Dad. Michaela meet your father." Jacob said, and gave her a push forward.
Both of them stared at one another in complete silence.
"Michaela?!" He asked and walked towards her. She nodded. He ran and picked her up in his arms. "It is so great to see you! I have been waiting and looking for you. Oh, my... This is great!" He yelled and swung her around. He placed her down and gave her a hug.
"Nice to meet you to Dad." She said, and they laughed.
"Where have you been?" He asked her.
"Right here actually." She said.
"Really? How come I have never seen you then?" He asked her.
"I don't know." She said.
"Well, I have only been here a couple of months, but still, I should have known you were here. Its so great that your here." He said, and gave her another hug.
"Where have you been? You said you have been here for a couple months?" She asked.
"Yeah, I travel all over the country. We have several facilities, like this one here. Now we are going to have to leave it. Our enemies have found it, that means,, we need to leave soon. Before any more of them come."
"I don't care where we go. I am just so happy that I am finally where I belong." Michaela said, and wrapped her arm around him. "Where would we go?" She asked.
He thought for a moment. "Where ever you want to. We have facilities in California, Florida, Wisconsin, and in several other states. Also, in New Zealand, and other areas of Australia. Some in Europe. Anywhere you want to go?" He asked her.
She looked at her brother. "Where ever we go, I don't care, as long as I am with you two." She said.
"Am I invited?" Joe asked.
Michaela looked at Joe. "Can he come? Please?" She asked her father.
"I don't see why not. Actually, he may even find his Father at one of our other locations. There is a good chance of that, or that he lives near one." Vincent told them.
Michaela went to Joe. "Isn't this great!?" She said, and wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.
"I see my little girl here, has found someone?" Vincent asked Jacob.
"Yeah, I guess so." Jacob said and laughed.
"Yes I did!" She said to them. "Isn't that right Joe?" She asked.
"That's right." He said, and kissed her again.
"When would we be leaving Dad?" Jacob asked.
"Well, I want to leave soon. Some of my companions are already packing their stuff. Maybe it would be best if we did to." He said to them.
Michaela nodded. She turned to Joe. "You want to run home and get your stuff?" She asked him.
Home! Frank! He thought. "I can't go back there." He told her.
"So what time are we leaving?" Jacob asked his Father.
"Tonight! We are all leaving tonight!"
Chapter 14
Frank still sat behind the counter listening to their conversation. He had tears falling down his cheeks. His brother was leaving and he wasn't going to change his mind. Frank quickly wiped the tears away.
He continued to listen to the others.
"Wow, we are leaving tonight?" Michaela asked.
"If that's okay with all of you. I mean we can stay a little longer, but there is a big risk of our enemies finding us. That is why I suggested we leave tonight. That way, you will all be safe. That's all I want right now." Vincent told them
"He is right. We should leave tonight. Its safer that way." Joe said.
Michaela turned to him. "Are you sure about this Joe? You have been here all your life." Michaela said.
"I am sure. I just want to get away from it. That's what I want right now." He said. "And I want to be with you." He said.
"I want to be with you too, but I don't want you to give up your life, to come with us." She said.
"Well, I am coming, and nothing is going to change my mind" Joe said.
"What about me?!"
Everyone turned around, and saw Frank standing behind the counter.
Joe had forgotten that his brother was still there.
"Get away from us!" Vincent said stepping in front of the kids. "Get away or I will kill you."
Joe ran to the front of Vincent. "Its okay. He is my brother." Joe said, stepping in front of Frank.
"He is no such thing Joe. He is one of them!" He said pointing to the two on the floor.
"I don't mean like that. We grew up together. I lived with him. Get it now?" Joe asked.
Vincent nodded. "He can't come Joe." he told Joe.
Joe turned around and faced Frank.
"Are you leaving?" Frank asked Joe.
"I think its best if I do." Joe whispered.
"Why? Why can't you stay here? We have always been together, and now your leaving?!" Frank started shouting.
"Frank calm down! It will only be for a short while. I want to find my Father and sister, then maybe I will return." Joe said.
"I am your brother! Why isn't that enough?" Frank asked, his eyes starting to water. The last thing he wanted, was to loose his little brother.
"Because, I am not your brother Frank. I want to find my family. I will be back. I promise." Joe said, his eyes starting to water now.
"I don't want you to go! Please don't..." Frank started. "I want you here." He said.
"I can't stay. Don't you get that? If I do, this will just get worse. You nearly got killed. So did we. It would be better if we left."
"It would be better if they did. Not you! I want you to stay!" he yelled letting emotion getting the best of him.
"Frank, I belong with them." Joe said pointing to the others. "You belong with them." He said, pointing to John and Stephan.
"One of them had me killed... Well sort of. I don't want to be with them Joe!"
"You have no choice. Your mother is one of them!" He yelled at Frank.
Frank pulled his fist back in gave Joe a solid punch in his jaw, sending him flying backwards, and crashing to the floor.
Vincent ran at Frank and shoved him against the counter. "Don't you dare touch him again! Or..." He started.
"Or you'll what? Kill me to? I don't want to loose my brother!" He yelled at Vincent who released him. Frank just sank to the floor, and buried his head in his knees, and was crying.
Joe was on the floor. Michaela went over to him, and helped him up. He felt his jaw, which hurt.
He walked over to Frank. "I am leaving, and you or no one will stop me." Joe told him. "I said, I would be back. Now I don't even want to see your face ever again!" Joe yelled at him.
Frank didn't even look up, instead kept crying.
"Joe! Knock it off!" Michaela said, coming up to him. "He doesn't want to leave you. And he doesn't want to loose you. He told you that. Why are you going to try and find your family Joe?! Because you care about them. Why does he not want to loose you? Because he cares about you! Get it now?" She asked.
"If he cares about me, then why the hell did he hit me?" He asked her.
"Because you were out of line.. I don't know. Maybe to knock some sense into you. I can tell you one thing, you need it. Joe I care about you, but I don't want you to end things like this with him." She said softly.
"Do you think i want to leave Michaela? No I don't. But I can't stay. You were attacked because you were in my home. His mother hates us now! He and she are both our enemies. I don't want things to be like this! I can barely stand it. That's why I want to leave!" He told her.
"Can you all excuse us, I need to speak with my brother alone." Joe said.
"Sure Joe." Vincent said, and he led Jacob out of the room. Michaela stood in her tracks.
"Do the right thing Joe." She said softly, and kissed him on the cheek, and walked out of the room.
Joe looked down at his brother who still hadn't looked up at him. Joe knelt down near his brother.
"Frank, you have to understand that I don't want to do this but its for the best." Joe said as softly as he could.
"The best? You think it's for the best?" Frank mumbled not looking up.
"Yes I do Frank." Joe said.
"Well, I think its bull." Frank said finally looking up. His eyes were red from crying. He wiped his eyes with his fingers.
"Frank, stop it. You and I both know, that it's best for us to split apart. At least for a little while." Joe said, trying hard not to fall to pieces over this.
"I don't. I think things will just get worse." Frank told him.
"Frank! I have to go and find my family!" Joe said, as tears started slipping down his cheeks, yet his face hid his emotions.
"I am your family Joe! I have been your family, all you life." Frank said.
"I understand that Frank, and we always will be. But I want to find my Father, and sister. I will be back, I promise." Joe said.
"Joe if you leave, I will never forgive you. Never." Frank said coldly.
"See what this is doing to us Frank?!" Joe said, and his voice rising.
"Yeah, turning you against me. I guess my visions or what ever are coming true." Frank said.
"What are you talking about?" Joe asked.
"We became enemies, and destroyed each others lives." Frank said.
"That won't happen! It will if you let it Frank. I won't let it." Joe whispered.
"Joe, there is no way you can't prevent it from happening. Maybe it was a sign of what is to come between us, and if it is. Then we are screwed! This is ruining our lives, and it will continue to ruin our lives if you go!"
Joe gave up. "I have to leave now Frank." Joe said and stood up.
"I don't want you to go." Frank said softly, as more tears fell down his cheeks. He covers his face with his hands again.
"Frank, stop it. You're only making it harder, for the both of us." Joe pleaded.
"I can't! Don't you get it! I want you to stay, that is all I want." Frank said standing up and facing his brother.
"Frank, I know you want me to stay, but I don't belong. I am going to a place where I do belong! Where people are like me, and who care about me. I know you care about me to. I care about you. But things WILL get better, I promise, and I will come back." Joe said.
"No you won't." Frank said.
"What?" Joe asked confused.
"You won't come back. Unless..."
"Unless what?"
"Nothing. You know what. I don't care! Go! Just go Joe. Go and find your family, because you have made it clear, that I am not a part of it!" Frank yelled at Joe.
"I never said that!" Joe yelled back.
"You may not have said it, but your actions have. I am not your family, so go, and find yours." Frank said sharply.
"Frank.." Joe started, but was at a loss for words. He stepped forward to hug his brother but Frank backed away.
"Don't you even come near me! Just go!" He said and pointed to the door.
"Great, now you're kicking me out." Joe mumbled.
"Does it make a difference? You're leaving any ways." Frank said.
"You aren't even going to say goodbye or anything?" Joe asked, his voice breaking, and tears falling down his face once more.
"Nope." Frank said shaking his head.
Joe started to say something but Frank interrupted him.
"Don't you say another word! Leave or I'll..." Frank started. "Or I will kill you." He said, and then was shocked that he said it.
Joe stared in shock back at him. "Well, guess this proves that we really are enemies. Goodbye Frank." Joe said, and walked towards the door. As he neared it, he turned around and looked at Frank, who was staring after him. His expression tore Frank heart apart. Never in his life had he seen Joe so hurt by anyone.
Joe waved at Frank, and walked out the door.
Frank sank to the floor against the cabinet that was behind him. He took a few deep breaths and tried to calm himself down, but it didn't seem to work.
He kept starring at the door hoping for Joe to come back. He never did.
"Goodbye, Joe." He said quietly, and silently cried, burying his head in between his legs.
"Goodbye Forever!"
The End
