CHAMOMILE
anthemis nobilis
Roman Chamomile

matricaria chamomilla
MAGICAL PROPERTIES

Flowers and herb is used.

Powerful alkali contained to so much greater extent
in the single flowers is, however, liable to destroy the coating
of the stomach and bowels, and it is doubtless for this reason
that the British Pharmacopceia directs that the 'official' dried
Chamomile flowers shall be those of the double, cultivated variety.

Parts Used Medicinally
The whole plant is odoriferous and of value, but the quality is chiefly
centered in the flower-heads or capitula, the part employed medicinally,
the herb itself being used in the manufacture of herb beers.

Both single and double flowers are used in medicine.

It is considered that the curative properties of the single,
Wild Chamomile are the more powerful,
as the chief medical virtue of the plant lies in the central disk
of yellow florets, and in the cultivated double form the white florets
of the ray are multiplied, while the yellow centre diminishes.

Good as a meditation incense for centering peace
sprinkle in home for protection healing, and money.

USES
Is an excellent herb both internally and externally for calming.

Great for digestion, fevers, burns,
anti-inflammatory for wounds, and sedative for nervous disorders.

And relieves stomach aches and diarrhea in infants and small children
(always using in diluted form).

In tea form, made of 2 teaspoons of the herb steeped for 5 minutes
in a cup of boiling water is agentle sleep inducer.

Chamomile makes an excellent insect repellent,
simply splash some tea on face, arms and feet.

It is a good hair rinse for blondes.

Plant camomile in your garden to be the guardian of the land, and you
will have certain success.
