Neil White I have a confession to make. I am and always have been a Carry on fan. I grew up with them as a small child, not understanding half the jokes (I still don't, honest), but just liking the funny people and voices which could be found in them. Little did I know that these funny people would have a strange and profound affect on me in later life. I grew up to have the hair of Bernard Bresslaw, the figure of Hattie Jaques, the face of Sid James, the stature of Barbara Windsor, the desirability of Charles Hawtry and the wit of Patrick Mower. Well, ok then, perhaps I'm exagerating a just a little. Fave Carryoner - Torn between Kenny Williams and Joany Sims. Fave Scene / line - Difficult one, probably the one in Cleo where Kenny returns home to Joan Sims and Charles Hawtrey. Fave Carryoner- I have met - Jacki Piper Fave piece of memorabilia - has to be all of my autographs (recently just bought Charles Hawtreys) Ok Fave Carry On Experience - The first time I went to Pinewood, It was so awe inspiring, recognising buildings and gardens from the Carry On and other films. I was simply amazed. Also on the same day meeting people like Norman Hudis, Valerie Leon, Richard O'Callaghan and most of all Peter Rogers. I think that will stay in my memory for the rest of my life. Web site address http://website.lineone.net/~oooh.matron Email address - neil.white@xena.shu.ac.uk |
