Moulin Rouge Director: Baz Luhrmann Writers: Baz Luhrmann And Craig Pearce Starring... Nicole Kidman Ewan Mcgregor John Broadbent John Leguizamo Richard Roxburgh (Warning Spoiler may be in this review incase you plan to go see it..) Well what can I say about this apart from the fact that its brilliant and one of the best films I have seen in a long time! I knew I wanted to go see this film after seeing a trailer but didn't really know what I was going to see. So I went along one afternoon with a friend and sat down for a roller coaster of a movie. I have to say each and every person starring in this movie were fantastic. Its a film about Love, The lead Roles are, Satine ( Nicole Kidman) and Christian ( Ewan Mcgregor) and their forbidden love. As for her to fall in love could mean the Plight of the Moulin Rouge at the hands of the powerful Duke who has the right to the deeds to the Moulin Rouge it Satine fails to satisfy him. This film was directed by the great Baz Luberman ( Strictly Ballroom, Romeo and Juliet). With this film he proves he continues to make great movies with his own style. Many people especially guys may be put of this film when they hear it's a musical But its not a typical musical its one that uses well known music such as music from , Madonna, Nirvana, Bowie and U2 and many more. And yes Kidman and Mcgregor can sing!... And its not a tacky old love story. They do a great job and the soundtrack to this film is really good. As well as it being sad in places it also has many very funny parts in it. My fave character has to be the duke, his voice and expressions are very funny and the way he purses his lips. A brilliant performance. And Jim Broadbent is equally as good. This is a very colourful film. The set it beautiful that gives it its magical feel. You can imagine all the work that must have gone into creating the sets for this film. With out ruining the film to much all I can say is go see this film. Catch it in the cinema if you still can as its best seen on the big screen but even on dvd it comes across great. News Kidman nominated for Golden Globe and Oscars.
