May 11, 2004 The Warrior Part 2 The light faded and Megan collapsed. Leslie was the first one to reach her. She managed to stop Megan's head from smashing against the floor while Atea took her pulse. "She's alright, Leslie. I think she wore herself out." "How long will she be out for?" Inquired Terra, one of the other warriors. "I do not know, maybe an hour, maybe a day. It's hard to tell," Atea answered. She turned to Leslie, "Orb her out." Leslie waved her arm and Megan vanished. "She'll be at home," Leslie said. "When will you see her again?" "I can watch her through a portal, Terra." "I'll see if I can find anything on her power in the books we have left," Atea announced. "Leslie, you should go home and rest." "Thank you, all of you. She maybe a child, but I know she'll be a fine protector." Leslie vanished while the others dispersed. Atea watched as Leslie's trail disappeared from the sky. She slowly made her way to one of the stone enclosures. All of the books from the Ancient Times, that had survived, were stored there. Atea was their keeper and one of the few that could read the dead language. She removed from the stone shelf a heavy weather worn book. There were papers sticking out of it marking pages of significance. Atea carefully opened the book to the last written page. It was the account of the disaster that sank their lands. Atea had read the passage many times but this time she looked for something more. The last queen of Atlantis was never mentioned in these accounts. It was as if she'd vanished. Atea found it hard to believe that the queen did not care her city was in danger, so she searched deeper. It was well known that the last queen was kind and considerate. She'd married once, but he'd been unfaithful and was exiled to the main lands never to be seen again. The queen had no children, but one day had become a mother. The books said that a child, a girl, was discovered by the queen on the island of Cleito. This child could speak the language but was not from Atlantis. She was dubbed the "Adopted One." Atea knew this story well and in her heart felt familiarity with it, as if somehow she'd known about it all her present life. Perhaps, Megan is the reincarnated child. It is the only logical explanation for her to have such powers. Atea knew well enough that the powers were passed on through children and in one way or another those children were all related. Megan was not descended from any of the descendants. If she is the "Adopted One" than perhaps the reincarnation of the last queen is also alive. *** Leslie lay awake in her bed. She knew there'd be no rest for her weary body. Her brain was trying to devise plots to conceal her relationship with Megan, but failed. The council will discover her powers eventually, but for now, I can only hope she doesn't alert them. Leslie's thoughts were interrupted by the pull to the Heavens. Reluctantly, she traveled up. The council was seated with St. Pete in charge when Leslie appeared. St. Pete beckoned for her to sit and she did. The other angels greeted her with sympathetic looks of pity. The witch in her wanted to come out and blast them all the way to Hell, but she dare not. "Angel Leslie, we are working on assigning you a new charge to take Megan's place," St. Pete said. "If I may, if there is no one who desperately needs me, I would like to spend time one Earth in my other life," Leslie replied. "Why would want that?" an angel asked. "The lands of my ancestors were recently attacked. Right now I'm needed to defend all that is good." "Very well than." St. Pete hit the Earth button and Leslie vanished. She fell on her bed and sighed. That went well. Now I may have some time to train Megan. She's still too young to have a charge. Leslie sat up as she felt eyes starring at her. Someone was watching her. She glanced around the room but saw nothing. She orbed up and in doing so took a bird's eye view, but still nothing appeared. She orbed down to the kitchen and ran the sink, using the water as a portal to view Megan. Megan was lying on her bed exhausted. She'd just woken up and could not remember how she got home. The last thing she remembered was demons and Ms. Kingston protecting her. She closed her eyes, trying to replay the fight in her head. It was fuzzy, but she knew it was no dream. Great, so now I'm some other form of life! Today just keeps getting better. She concentrated for a moment and before long was hovering above the ground. Now I wonder if this is the witch part or angel part. Megan soon lost all her strength and crashed into the bed and kept going into a deep sleep. Leslie watched her charge sleep and tried to enter her mind. She found it quite difficult to access. She's thinking about so many things even while she sleeps! Poor Megan, no wonder she's stressed all the time. Leslie looked at her charge closer. She noticed parallel cuts on her arms. What the hell are those? They were definitely not there yesterday; at least I'm pretty sure they weren't. Leslie starred into the portal until in became disfigured by a light breeze. "Leslie." "Atea, what is it?" "You may be right, Megan might be the 'Adopted One,' but if she is than we must find the last queen as well," Atea explained. "So what are we waiting for? Let's start hunting down our sisters." "It's not that easy." "Well why not?" "Come, I'll show you." The two walked through a portal to the lands and were shocked at what they saw. Everything was gorgeous and looked brand new. This was not the Atlantis the two knew. "Wow! What is this place?" Leslie gasped, "Is this what you wanted to show me?" "No, I was going to show you the book and the non existent accounts of the queen's death, but this must be Atlantis in the past. Somehow we've time traveled," Atea answered. "Can your powers do that?" "No! No one I know can do this, even at their full potential. We must hide, we cannot change the past." Atea grabbed Leslie's hand and they hid behind some columns. The two watched as another two beautiful women walked by "Lezlia, many do not agree with your choice to make Megara your heir." "Why not, Ateana?" "Well, my Queen, they fear her. She is an outsider with incredible powers for one so small." "I do not care! She is my daughter, whether born of my blood or not." "Of course, my Queen." Leslie and Atea were shocked. They moved from their spots to get closer to their targets. For fear of being heard, they used their telepathy to communicate. Leslie, the queen looks just like you! What about you and Ateana? You even have practically the same name! Leslie, do you think this could have happened? Only one-way to find out, we must find who ever sent us here. Agreed. Leslie and Atea followed the queen and other woman closely. They both knew that this might be their chance to find out more about their history. Suddenly, a little girl went running past Leslie and Atea, but did not even notice them. "Mommy, Mommy!" She called in the old dialect. Lezlia turned to the child. "Hello Megara, I was just talking to Auntie Ateana." "Oh, are we still going to Clieto?" "Of course, my darling," Lezlia responded, kissing the child's forehead. Lezlia turned to Ateana to say something but was stopped. "Go with your child, but think about what I've said," Ateana ordered and than vanished. Leslie and Atea prepared to follow the child and the queen. They had realized they couldn't be seen and were thankful for that. A golden light from nowhere appeared and engulfed them, when they opened their eyes they found themselves on a beach. Feeling like they were temporally safe Atea opened her mouth. "Where are we?" "Clieto." "How do you know that?" "I'm not sure, I just do." "Well, what now?" "Megara said something about coming here, perhaps we can learn if Megan is just the reincarnation of Megara." "The names are close enough," Atea muttered. She turned toward her companion, but found her heading toward the wooded area. "Hey, where are you going?" "To find them." Atea ran to catch up and the two made their way through the forest. Soon enough they came upon a rock mountain with the mouth of a cave. "Well, going in?" "Yes." The two gathered their courage and began walking slowly into the darkened tunnel. Leslie heard voices and Atea nodded as if to say she'd heard them to. They came around a corner to find Lezlia and Megara playing. A feeling of complete familiarity swept over Leslie. She stepped closer to hear what the two were talking about. "Mommy, why can't we stay here?" "Because, I must be with my people, our people. It's my duty to protect and defend, just like it will be yours." "What if I fail?" "You won't, because I will always be by your side." "Promise?" "Yes." "I love you, Mommy!" "I love you, Megara." Leslie felt tears swell in her eyes. She wished she could talk to these ancient ones so she might warn them. Atea watched with fascination at how quickly Leslie became attached. "Leslie, we must try to find a way out." "You're right, as usual Atea. I just wish..." "Wish what?" "That it wouldn't end. They look so happy." "Come, let's go." Leslie and Atea turned to leave when they felt the presence of demons and heard shrieks from behind. The two turned ready to fight, but found they had no powers. They watched in amazement as their ancestor defended her child. Leslie screamed as Lezlia was struck down leaving the child unprotected. Megara did not like these people; they'd hurt her mother for her mother never screamed unless wounded badly. Megara had been told hundreds of times that her powers would activate when she needed them, and it seemed that this was as good a time as any for golden blasts shot from her hand and repelled the demons. Megara wept next to her mother, but used her power to encase her in a magic tomb. So this is what happened to the last queen of Atlantis, no wonder she was never mentioned, she died or rather was put to sleep. Though she must be dead now, for there is no doubt Leslie is the reincarnation, especially if she felt the pain. It makes perfect sense, Megan is not born to us and Leslie found her, it was right in front of me the entire time! Leslie watched as Megara left the resting place of her beloved mother. Leslie starred at the tomb for minutes after the child left; finally Atea took Leslie's hand and began to lead her to entrance of the cave. They caught up to Megara who turned around just as they reached her. Leslie held her breath fearing that somehow Megara knew they were there. "I love you, Mommy. When I can fix everything, I'll set you free." "Megara," Leslie whispered. She reached out to touch the child, but found her hand went right through her. In a bright light the child vanished. Atea and Leslie found themselves in the stone enclosure with the books. "I think we've returned to the present," Atea said letting go of Leslie. Before she could answer, Leslie was orbed out. She appeared in a teenage decorated room and gasped. This is Megan's room! How did I get here? Leslie looked towards the bed and jumped as Megan sat up. "I love you, Mommy. When I can fix everything, I'll set you free." Leslie chocked on a scream. She still asleep thank god! Those are the same words that Megara said! Using her telepathy, Leslie tapped into Megan's brain and found she was dreaming about the past. Could it be that she cast this spell? Lights appeared around Leslie and she spun around to see who was there. St. Pete glared back at her. "Angel Leslie, you've disobeyed an order from God." "Right, I'm here to see a daughter of the Lost Lands." "You will not find one here." "Really?" "Do not play games, using your magic to trick a child and watch her. A child, I might mention, you almost got killed." "I did not know she would do that!" Leslie exclaimed. Her voice had risen in volume and had caused Megan to stir. No one noticed the child move as they continued to fight. Megan lay with her eyes half closed, but she was very much awake. Her head began to ring as she felt all this pain fill her heart. Why is St. Peter yelling at her? She protected me! "Leslie you know the laws!" "The laws are not in question here! Angels loose their charges, it happens, if I had known she was going to do that I would prevented it!" "Leslie the punishment still lies, you can burn for eternity in Hell!" "NO!" Megan screamed. St. Pete turned around and Leslie froze. "Megan!" She gasped. St. Pete stood between the two and he watched them both. He turned to Megan and Leslie orbed out. "Damn her!" He yelled as he saw Leslie's trail leave. He turned to Megan to see she was gone as well. "Curse you both! You will pay Leslie!" St. Peter vanished and returned to the Heavens, just as Megan materialized. "Well that was interesting," she said to an empty room. She looked around and saw no one. Oh, I thought, maybe Ms. Kingston would come back. Damn this whole thing! I wish I had just died; it would be so much easier! Wait a minute, that's it! "What's it?" "Ms. Kingston?" Megan looked up and saw her former mentor hovering above the ground. "Hello." "You came back!" "Of course I did. Although, Pete thinks I'm in Atlantis right now, so you don't have to worry." "Would it be safer there?" Leslie saw her former charge's eyes glisten with hope; she glanced at the child's arms and sighed. "Safer? Darling, its never safe anywhere." "That's not true!" Megan snapped back. Leslie looked at her. "Oh, and I thought we were in agreement," she replied grabbing Megan's arm. Leslie orbed them both out and they appeared in the stone circle where they'd been fighting earlier. Megan opened her eyes, she still wasn't quite used to the whole disappearing thing and the rest of her molecules were hurrying to catch up. "Can I have a warning the next time, please? This whole thing is dizzying." "Stand there," Leslie ordered pointing to a portion of the ground that was engraved. Megan did as she was told. "Good, now let's see if your power really is what I think it is." "What do you mean?" "That stone will show me if you have any powers that relate to time." "Like stopping time or moving it?" Megan asked. "No, more like seeing the future or the past. Tsap, tneserp, erutuf!" Lights flooded the sky for a brief second and than vanished. "Just what I thought, you can see the past and the future." "And this is a good thing?" "It means you cast the spell that sent Atea and I to the past, which means you can do another one." "Spell? I don't remember anything about that." "Oh of course you wouldn't. It probably is something you think about as a dream. So than, I wonder...." "Wonder?" "What's yours is yours, what's mine is mine, let our powers cross the line." Lights again flooded and vanished in seconds. "Wow, talk about a power rush. Your trigger point is the desire to protect, not surprised. So let's see..." Leslie faded off as she closed her eyes. A nightmare flashed through her mind and she gasped as she felt immense pain run to her arms. "What's yours is now mine, what's mine is now yours, let our powers cross the line." "What happened?" Megan demanded, feeling very strong all of sudden. "You have your powers back, and I know the truth." "Truth about what, Ms. Kingston?" Leslie looked again towards her charge. "Megan, what happened to your arm?" Megan gulped and immediately dropped her eyes. There is no way she knows about that! "Uh...I'm not sure, I think I fell." "Megan, if you don't like your life than change it, and if you can't change it than try to find something that makes you happy. I can't protect you when you lie." "You're not supposed to be protecting me, remember?" "That's not going to stop me from trying, nothing is and nothing is worth taking your blood. Someday, everything will get better, I promise you." "And until then?" "You just have to be a warrior." -End Part 2- THE END OF THE WARRIOR Author's Note: Hello, no cliffhangers this time, I'm very sorry. This is officially over, and no I don't know what happens after (if I did there'd be a part three). So anyway little clarity here: Leslie and Atea went to the past where they see their ancestors. Atea realizes on Clieto that Leslie is Lezlia's reincarnate and Megara is Megan's and Ateana is hers. Leslie feels drawn to Megara because of her affection for Megan. It is Megan who subconsciously sends Leslie and Atea to the past and it is also she who orbs Leslie to her when they return. In the end Leslie returns to Megan to see if she is the one with the powers to send them to the past and that is the reason for the test. She realizes that she can see what really happened to Megan's arms and discovers the truth. (OBVIOUSLY IT WAS ATTEMPTED AND NOT SUCCESSFUL!) Okay the end.
