Here's our montly newsletter. This will be updated each month, but a paper copy will be sent home each month in the B.E.A.R. notebooks.

If you have any additions to the monthly newsletter, I will need them sent to me by the last weekend of the month. This is when this page will be updated. I will be able to add things, but I cannot guarantee that it will be done by any specific time. THANKS!

Welcome to our new year, new semester and new beginning. Beginning this semester, your students will be working very hard to get ready for the CRCT (which is only a few months away), doing projects and learning how to write in cursive. Last semester, we seemed to have a hard time focusing on the tasks we needed to work on. I am confident that this will change this semester and we will have no trouble connecting to the things we need to learn. There is a whole lot between us and Summer Break, so please encourage your child to come to school ready to learn!

I thought I would take a short moment and explain the reasons and procedure for Fun Friday for those who are not aware of it. Just before Halloween, Ms. Watkins and I began our Fun Friday activities as a way to motivate our students to stay on task and complete their work during the week. In the weeks since we began, we have both noticed great changes in most of our students' behavior.
The activities on Friday are all related to the work we've done all week and serve as a culmination for those skills they have learned. Some weeks, it may be a video of a story we've been reading, some weeks it may be art projects, still other weeks may be computer work. The activities solely depend on the skills taught over the course of that week.
In order for a students to be able to go to Fun Friday, they must have completed all of their work for the week prior to Friday (this includes homework and classwork done during the week) and have less than 6 tickets. Tickets are given when redirection is needed in the classroom for innapropriate behavior. If a student  has 6 tickets, they are not allowed to go to Fun Friday and, instead, spend their day writing about ways to correct their behavior and make it to Fun Friday next week. If the student has 5 or fewer tickets and all of their work completed, they are allowed to go to the Fun Friday activites.
