The Moonlight Sonnet By Unknown The pale moon rose into the darkened night, Ascendint like a huge balloon high. Illuminating broadly with its light Its fullness casting radiance in the sky. Emitting beams that I would love to clasp, By catching them ere they could reach the land But they eluded easily my grasp Dissolving as they touched my outstretched hand. Reflected light from moonbeams passing through The gossamer wings of angels floating by Brought images now faintly into view, Those rarely seen by merely naked eve. When full moon pales, the angels end their flight Their images now fade into the night. |
