FarnithT’bre removed his riding helmet as his brown lifemate, Farnith, stood up tall once more after giving him a leg down to the ground. T’bre looked about his new surroundings brushing his light brown hair out of his green eyes. So this is Blue Sky Weyr…? Why are we here again? the brown asked his rider as he also looked about taking in the Weyr and its dragons.

Quachir wanted us to check in on N’tron, he’s been here for a few sevendays now,” T’bre replied. She couldn’t send a fire lizard? You know as well as I that if she can, Quachir would rather send a representative of Seiryuu Weyr rather than send a fire lizard. But doesn’t she always say that her green fire lizard is as smart as a gold and because of that is smarter than her other two fire lizards? True, Xiptra is smart but still I think she likes the human contact… that and she wants the riders to get to know other Weyrs… Strategic move I think in the candidates area. Yes, it would help if Seiryuu needs candidates… the bronze sized brown trailed off as he found something of interest on the crater edge of the Weyrbowl. T’bre hardly noticed, he was on the look out for either N’tron or somebody to direct him to the man.

I think I’ll go see how the sunning is up there, Farnith told his rider absently before taking off. Don’t stay up there too long, your brown enough, T’bre joked looking back at his brown as the dragon ascended to the fire heights.

MurcurusAs the brown rose, a slivery white fire lizard appeared chirping smugly and landed on T’bre’s shoulder. The brown rider quickly pulled a scrap of dried meat out of a small pouch he carried on him at all time and fed the small silvery flit. “Did you find him, Murcurus?” the rider asked of his fire lizard. Murcurus crooned and instead of showing a man showed a woman with a blue flit.

“That’s not N’tron,” T’bre chided Murcurus. Even so the white seemed to insist that he find this woman, “She’ll lead me to N’tron?” The flit chirped happily. With a quick mental instruction to the silvery flit, Murcurus was soon leading the wingrider towards where he had last seen the woman with the blue fire lizard.

“I was wondering who that flit belonged to,” a woman’s voice caught the brown rider’s attention. Turning, T’bre found the woman with the blue fire lizard. T’bre smiled at her, though while doing this he was a bit cautious; most women he’d met in Weyrs since impressing Farnith six turns back had found him very attractive.

“I take it you mean my Murcurus,” T’bre replied, “I sent him in search of my friend N’tron.”

“I see,” the woman replied and her blue flit chirped as if echoing his bond’s words, “Well you’re obviously not from this Weyr, I would know about it.”

“And why’s that?” T’bre asked of the woman, for a moment thinking that she was hitting on him.

“Because I’m the Weyrwoman of Blue Sky Weyr,” she smiled, “I am Alexandra, Sr. Queen Rosilinth’s rider.”

“Forgive me, I didn’t know,” T’bre replied and gave a small bow, “I am T’bre, brown Farnith’s rider, a wingrider of Seiryuu Weyr.”

“Ah, another Seiryuu rider,” Alexandra replied with a chuckle, “Will you also be trying your dragon in a flight.”

“A flight?” T’bre replied alarmed. Perhaps the Alexandra was hitting on him, and maybe that was because her queen would soon rise.

“Yes, you see N’tron’s blue Zhantrenth is signed up to try and fly a young green,” Alexandra replied with a bit of a chuckle, “there are two golds other than this green who are to fly soon.” At the nervous look T’bre gave her the Weyrwoman laughed, “I’m not that bad brown rider, my queen only just got off the sands with her clutch so you need not worry there… or is it that you would rather a male partner?”

“Shells no!” T’bre replied a bit too hastily, after calming himself he continued on, “Sorry, I’m just a bit jumpy around women, I’ve was chased about Sapphire Weyr for most of my Weyrling Training by women who thought I was a nice catch to be had… I never had that when I was not a rider.”

“Interesting,” Alexandra replied and then nodded, “well back to the reason you’re here. I take it Quachir wanted a human report than one on hide and by fire lizard.”

“That’s what it seems, Weyrwoman,” T’bre replied, “Do you know where I might find him?”

“His weyr most likely,” the woman replied, “I have other matter to attend to but maybe… ah yes… Lori!” A woman, whom seemed to be three turns T’bre’s senior, walked over sneaking a small glance at T’bre as she did. To the man’s surprise, she didn’t continue to stare but instead replied to the Alexandra.

“Yes, Alexandra, what can I do for you?” Lori smiled brightly.

“Loir, this is T’bre, brown Farnith’s rider of Seiryuu Weyr,” the Sr. Weyrwoman replied, “I’d like you to take him to N’tron’s weyr. He wishes to speak with him on how his stay has been thus far, am I correct T’bre?”

“That would be about it, Weyrwoman,” T’bre replied.

“I have some other matters to attend to myself,” Lori replied a bit urgently and the Weyrwoman seemed to understand her unspoken words.

“I believe it’s on the way past N’tron’s weyr though isn’t it?” Alexandra replied.

“Yes it is,” Lori replied with a nod, “I guess it won’t take that long to show him then. Well come on, brown rider.” With that the woman started off and T’bre gave a quick bow to Alexandra before following Lori. Murcurus had stayed silent through the whole conversation, though now he decided that he would chirp up a fire lizard’s version of a song.

“I didn’t notice,” Lori commented as they walked towards the herdbeast pens, “you have a silver fire lizard.”

“White actually,” T’bre replied, “He has a sort of metallic sheen to him though. His name’s Murcurus.”

“I almost don’t see why she didn’t just point out N’tron’s weyr to you,” Lori replied changing the subject, “But then again, even when pointed to a weyr at ground level one can be confused as to which weyr is which… hmm, if only Zhantrenth was not sunning by Sanith then it would be easier for me to direct you there so I can deal with my own little problem.”

“Problem?” T’bre replied looking at the woman’s profile out of the corner of his eye, “I thought you had a ‘matter to attend to’ not a problem.”

“Well she’s not really a problem,” Lori replied, before she could go on further though a young man with a scarred face appeared from a weyr, two fire lizards, a gold and a white, sat on his shoulders. He waved them over.

“Lori, how’s your gold Melinith doing today?” the man replied. Gold Melinith? T’bre thought with surprise, Lori’s a gold rider?

“She shines brighter each day, she should rise soon, N’tron,” Lori replied, “Oh and I’ve brought you an old friend to talk to you.”

“T’bre! How’s Seiryuu Weyr been?” N’tron smiled at the brown rider, “Mekoth’s clutch hatched finally, a gold and a white came of it as well.”

“That’s good news!” N’tron replied though he looked a bit saddened that he had not seen the event himself.

“Thanks for helping me seek him out, weyrwoman,” T’bre told Lori as she started to walk away.

“Just keep it simple if you see me again, no weyrwoman, just Lori,” she replied with a wave. T’bre watched the woman go, she seemed nice enough. Not to mention pretty, and not seeming too worried about the prospect of her dragon flying. Then you would have no problem with me trying to fly her gold Melinith?

“What?” T’bre yelped in his startlement. N’tron looked confused for a moment though his eyes glazed over as he tried to figure out T’bre’s outburst. Within seconds there was a sly grin on the blue rider’s features.

“Lori is quite nice you know, and Melinith is a very kind gold for one being so close to a flight,” N’tron smiled lightly tapping his friend on the shoulder.

“Then why don’t you have Zhantrenth try flying her,” T’bre shot back without thinking. N’tron took the outburst in his stride, he knew the brown rider hadn’t meant it.

“For one, Zhan’s already had me enter him into a green’s flight here,” N’tron grew a bit starry eyed as he continued on, making his scarred features look quite a bit dashing, “her name is Sanith and her rider is quit a nice one to converse with… I think she might like me even though I’ve got this huge scar on my face.” Here the blue rider pointed to the upper half of his face which was discolored because of an accident a few turns before he’d become a dragon rider; he fell in a fire, face first, while walking a runner shoe over to be fired.

“And your other reasons for not being in the flight yourself,” T’bre asked with a little less heat in his voice.

“Zhan’s to small, my friend,” N’tron replied, “that and he’s a blue, I love him to death despite that fact though.”

“As all dragonriders should lover their dragons,” T’bre replied as he looked off towards his dragon who seemed enthralled by a gold he laid less than a eighth of a dragonslength away from. The gold seemed like one of the smaller of her coloring but seemed to be about the same size as Farnith, if not a little bigger.

“You’re sure you want to do this, big guy?” T’bre asked, taking a side long glance at Lori just before she disappeared into the Weyr to make her way up to the gold Melinith, who was obviously the one that his brown was so close to. I am sure my rider. I may not have participated in many flights in my life time but I would long for the chance to try to fly this female. T’bre sighed, though he was a bit happy that his brown was sure they he wanted to fly this female. Perhaps it won’t be so bad… Lori’s nice enough… in personality and looks from what I’ve seen of her.

“Got any writing hide in your weyr?” T’bre asked of the blue rider.

“Sure, what ya’ need it for?” N’tron replied.

“Might as well inform Quachir that there isn’t just one rider from Seiryuu staying at Blue Sky Weyrs anymore,” T’bre replied as the blue rider handed him a piece of charcoal and a hide. T’bre scribbled a quick note before giving it to Murcurus to take to Quachir. As the flit disappeared, T’bre noticed N’tron writing two notes and giving them to each of his fire lizards. His gold went between while his white flew straight.

“Who are you writing?” T’bre asked the blue rider suspiciously.

“Well Sight is on her way to see your brothers and sisters with the news,” N’tron replied and started to inch away from the brown rider as he continued on, “and Seeker is looking for Alexandra to tell her that you’ll be staying for a while and to sign your Farnith up for Melinith’s flight.”

“YOU WHAT?!?!”

N’tron was off like a shot, T’bre chasing after his friend. The brown rider was going to make the request himself but with N’tron making seem like it was totally his idea, and in part it was, it made him want to jokingly chase his friend around his new short term home for a while. Only time would tell if either of these two Seiryuu Weyr riders’ dragons would stand a chance in the flights they were entered in.
