Juventus will be well represented
at this summer's European Championships after Dino Zoff included seven
Bianconeri players in his final 22-man squad for the tournament. The Italy
coach made the announcement at a press conference at Coverciano on Thursday
- and the news was good for everyone connected to the Delle Alpi club.
Contrary to media speculation,
Lazio defender Giuseppe Pancaro is the man to miss out, which means a place
in the squad for Mark Iuliano alongside fellow defenders Ciro Ferrara and
Gianluca Pessotto. Antonio Conte and Gianluca Zambrotta are two of eight
midfielders included, while Alessandro Del Piero and Filippo Inzaghi have
been handed the number 9 and 10 shirts.
Italy kick-off their competition
with a game against Turkey in Arnheim on 11 June. Before then, they travel
to Oslo for a friendly against Norway on Saturday 3 June.
Further down the ladder,
new signing Marco Zanchi should feature for the Italy U-21 side which faces
Turkey in the European U-21 Championships in Slovakia on Thursday. At stake
for Marco Tardelli's team is a place in the Final - and a passport to the
Olympic football competition in Sydney.
