Juventus were narrowly beaten
in Cesena in a match which came too early for the international players
and was one session too much for those members of the squad who have been
training since 14 July. Carlo Ancelotti, however, was in no mood for making
allowances at the post-match conference.
"Bologna approached the tie
as if it were a real match, we treated it as a friendly," he complained.
"Nonetheless there is nothing to be too worried about. The only reason
it was a bit upsetting was that when you play you should always want to
win, even if it is a friendly."
Alessandro Del Piero, who
made his comeback from injury last August at the very same stadium, received
a warm welcome from the fans. The Bianconero playmaker, captain for the
day, played well and managed to hit the crossbar with a header: "I am satisfied
with my performance because I have only been training for five days and
can't really expect too much more for now," he said.
