Juventus president Gianni
Agnelli has claimed that striker Alessandro Del Piero will be staying with
the Italian champions.
Del Piero had rejected a
new contract with the Turin club and had been linked with a move to Internazionale
on a massive boost to his wages.
The striker's wage demands
were the stumbling block to a new deal with Juve but Agnelli claimed this
morning that the striker would be staying with his club. He is currently
working hard to regain fitness after a serious knee injury suffered last
November.
Juventus are also planning
to finalise a move back to their old Stadio Communale ground this week
and build a new stadium away from the Delle Alpi ground which became the
club's home in 1990. Built for the World Cup that year the ground hosts
Juve and Torino matches and both clubs have been looking for an alternative
venue. Juve plan to build a new ground for themselves and return to the
Communale while construction takes place.
