Six months after his season ended in injury, Juventus player Alessandro Del Piero played 15 minutes of a training match on Saturday, scoring one goal. Del Piero was applauded by his teammates as he arrived on the pitch for what coach Carlo Ancelotti described as 'an important day for him and for Juventus'.

The forward, who ripped cruciate ligaments in his left leg last November, is meanwhile at the centre of protracted negotiations with the outgoing champions over a new contract.
