Encounters

Nicole (*Nikki*) Candelaria-

On the Tragic Kingdom tour I had the privelage of seeing my favorite
band (NO DOUBT!).  I won two tickets off of the radio and took my lame friend at
the time (who was a thug).. We got inside and found out that we had major
noosebleed seats so were kinda bummed.  The Vandals and Cake opened up for them
who both flippin' rocked.  Before the concert started me and my bud went to
where the backstage is and there was this old man guard.  I kept on bugging him
to let me backstage and of course he wouldn't so after a long time of
compromising I convinced him to at least move out of the way so I could see
backstage.  He also gave the skinny on an autograph signing after the concert
that you had to have a special pass to get in but everyone was meeting in row E.
I was oh so grateful for that advice.  I saw Gabriel and Stephen practicing
they're horns and i get soooo stoked.  Then I saw Gwen pass by and i freaked!!
She was sooo absolutely gorgeous and glittery and small.!
. I was like GWEN!  come here.. and she smiled and waved and said she had to get
on stage so me and my lame friend hurried back to our oh so crappy seats and
decided to just jam on a more closer secluded area.. we had an awesome view of
the right side of the stage and i had could see Tony perfectly.  After I thought
the concert was over i started walking to row E, which on the other side of the
arena, when i heard the drums for Spiderwebs.  I freaked and ran so could see a
view of the stage.  After that was done I started seeing quite a few ppl
gathering in row E.. me and my bud sat down and waited a while then this
security guard came out and was like if you don't pass a backstage pass you
better leave now and me and my friend just looked at each other and shrugged and
grinned.. Then they made us all stand in a single file line and where checking
our passes one by one.. the closer it got to me the more nervous i got.  When it
was finally my turn the security lady just looke!
d at me, saw that i didn't have a pass, smiled and let me through.  I WAS SOOOO
STOKED!!!  We waited about 30 minuntes in this ghetto V.I.P. room and then
someone announced that Gwen wouldn't be able to make it cause she wasn't feeling
well :(
I got to meet the rest of the band.. Tony's hair was freshly shaved and quite
fuzzy so i rubbed it for good luck and he smiled which made me melt and all of
the sudden i asked him to marry me.. he laughed :gush:gush:
I left home walking on air.  That was definetly something i'll remember for the
rest of my life.

Susie-

I actually saw No Doubt in person before I knew who they were.  In
October 1996 we were standing in line at the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland
and were just getting ready to board, when these guys in front of us just
started going nuts.  They were jumping up and down screaming that the members of No Doubt were getting on the ride in the other line, about 20 feet from us. They said they were this band out of Anaheim and were getting really big.  I looked over at them and thought. Oh whatever. A few weeks after being back I heard 'Don't Speak' on the radio.  The DJ said it was No Doubt. I really liked the song so I went and bought the CD. When I saw their picture, I absolutely remembered seeing Tony. Loved the CD and have been a fan ever since.
