IN MEMORY OF MY SPECIAL FRIENDS
Kyle Taylor Wood - January 18, 1995 - August 18, 1998 Leukemia
Kyle was such a bright spot in a painful world. He brightened my days when we were in the hospital together. He loved coming to my room and making a complete mess of my beads. He would throw them in the air and watch them scatter. He would take my markers and mark his tennis shoes up with them. He loved playing with my tiny tape recorder and listening to whoever left a message. He would go to sleep lying in one of the hospital wagons with me lying in one beside him holding his hand. He liked keys very much. He held a key to my heart and I'll miss him. His obituary said it best about Kyle "Kyle, you've been our little "Keeper of the Keys." How could you know you have the keys to our hearts and souls... in your tears our hearts were broken, in your smile our hearts rejoiced; in your pain our souls were chained, in your final peace those chains fell away

.Bye my little ky-guy
Melissa Sue Davis- October 9, 1986 - January 5, 1999 Leukemia
Melissa was my companion when it came to causing trouble on the wing. One time that sticks out in my memory was when her hair was falling out. Our child life specialist was new on the job. She hadn't been around to many people that's hair would fall out with just a little tug. Anyway we decided to make her a card to remember us by or more specifically Melissa's hair. She was pretty disturbed by Melissa being able to pull her hair out so we decided to take pictures of Melissa pulling her hair out. We made a banner for Amy, (the child life specialist), we hole punched the sides of the pictures and used Melissa's hair to tie them all together. The message said, "You make me want to pull my hair out." It was a fun time.
Thanks Melissa
Jamie Paul Confer -  October 19, 1975 - January 5, 2000
Dani Bauer introduced me to Jamie and said this is the guy
I am going to marry. And I am sure that when Jamie made
it to Heaven, Dani was waiting at the gate to jump up in his
arms and knock him over. Jamie was an inspiration to many.
He had the greatest laugh. When I was having my breakdown
at Camp, Jamie held me and let me cry on his shoulder for
what seemed forever, he told me it would be okay, and it was after he said that.
Thanks for everything Jamie:)
A Poem of Remembrance:
Today I smile remembering you, the way you chased away the blues.
Your life blew out like a candle in the wind, this was a fight you were not meant to win.
Love had guided you down the path, who knew your strength could not last?
You laughed away all the pain, and helped my spirit grow.
Your spirits life began to dim, and suddenly I thought you might not win.
The pain began to show in your eyes, and I could not help but start to cry.
My special friends now you can rest, because you have proven you were one of the best.
So sleep in peace and remember this, those love lives on even when we fall.
That no matter, what demon may come, If we give our all, we have WON the fight!

Kaylin Schulties -     2000 Osteosarcoma
Kaylin was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her hip.  She was diagnosed a few months after I was.  She had played softball the same as I had.  She always had a hat of some sort on.  We were roomates one of the times at the hospital.  We ended up being moved to the adult ward because there was RSV patients on the childrens ward and we couldn't be exposed to it.  She hadn't been back from her surgery very long and she couldn't get out of bed.  Her parents stayed in our room as well.  It was definitely an experience.  I felt bad for her having to have a roomate when she was in that condition.  We weren't in hospital anymore after that, but we did see her occasionally during check ups. She got to do a voice over for the Pepper Ann cartoon show.  It was the show that dealt with beanie babies.  I was watching the cartoon one day after she had died and all of a sudden I heard her voice, I remember running out of my room to get my mom to come and listen.  Kaylin told me she was going to be an angel for Halloween.
You were right, Kaylin.
