Jellicle Moon
Prop
(PICTURE WILL BE REPLACED SOON) This is my Jellicle Moon
prop that I made out of some very simple materials.
These pictures were taken at night on my front porch. The picture on the
right is digitally inhansed by coloring the clouds black; which I have
done already but haven't taken new pictures of it yes.
Materials Needed:
Hula Hoop - large or small
Black or dark blue material, cut into strips
Aleene's Tacky Glue in the gold bottle. (very important for good sticking power)
Sissors
2 Sheets of Foam board - white - or one black, one white
Acrilic paints in 'moon' colors - blues, yellows, oranges & white or off white.
Sharp Exacto Knife
Fishing Line - thin but strong
LARGE Blunt Needle or ale (sp?) for poking hold threw the foam
Pencile or Pen
Sea Sponge for painting
Bowl of water & cloth for blotting sponge - or sponge brush

HOW TOO:

1) Sketch a large circle on your white sheet of foam board.

2) Very carefully cut out the foam with the Exacto knife. Try not to cut threw the whole thickness of the board at one time. Instead make several cuts, once threw the top sheet of paper, next threw the foam and finally threw the back sheet of paper, this will make for a very clean line. Then sketch out your clouds and cut them out.

3) With a wet sea sponge start dabbing the colors on your moon. Do not feel like you always have to blend your colors perfectly, the more variations the better. Also looking at pictures of the moon will help you also. Next paint the clouds black, or if you have black foam board just make sure the edges are painted.

4) While those are drying wrap the fabric strips around the hula hoop, glueing every inch of the way. You want to make sure the fabric is very secure. Let dry.

5) After everything is dry decide where you want the clouds to be placed then thread the needle with the fishing line. Poke holes in the clouds threw the clouds & threw the moon & tie in the back.

And that's all there is too it. Have fun and I'd love to see your pictures when your finished. If you'd like me to post them just
e-mail me.
