Since first teaching himself sewing during his teens, Pyuupiru has gone on to create a diverse range of costumes. From around 1997, he began to create eccentric characters – through a process of repeated sewing and knitting without the use of patterns – that convey his unique delusional and obsessive-compulsive world view. Pyuupiru then dons these costumes, transforming himself into that character and carries out performances.
